Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a great beach to go to for a good walk. It's very long, goes all the way to Malahide estuary, and the sand is very suitable for walking, not too soft. Good parking at the Martello tower. The beach can get busy during the summer but is nice and quiet off season.

There are a number of entry points onto this very pleasant beach. The main entrance is accessed by following the main road from Donabate village past Donabate Golf Club and straight through the small roundabout as you near the Waterside Hotel. Cars are no longer permitted onto the beach, so you have to park in the public car park beside the hotel or on the main road. On weekdays and dull days this is fine, but on sunny summer weekends it can be quite difficult, as the roads tend to be “choc-a-bloc” with visitors to this popular spot.
Alternative access points are available, if you turn right at the roundabout and park in either Corballis (on left) or Balcarrick Golf Clubs (further down on right) – usually ok for parking midweek. There are at least 2 “right of way” pedestrian pathways through Corballis Golf Course onto the beach.
And what a lovely beach this is – a 2 mile + ribbon of golden sand, backed by sand dunes, stretching towards Malahide Estuary, southwards and northwards towards Portrane. All you need is a bit of sunshine – if you care to swim and don’t mind the water temperature. I’ve walked the dog there quite a few times and, even on dull or showery days, you will see walkers, enjoying the views of Lambay, Howth, Ireland’s Eye, the sea air and, of course, the peacefulness.
If only we had the same weather as Spain – this place would be worth a fortune – but then again, it would lose some of its present Irish charm.

This beach in Donabate, County Dublin is one of the finest sandy beaches in Ireland. Brilliant for a good long walk. Great views of Howth head and Lambay Island. Located close to the beautiful village of Donabate.

The beach in Donabate is very beautiful and long , very pleasant for walking . It is significantly affected by the tides. We could see at least two areas allowing for access to this beach. During the summer is is probably perfect for sunbathing but in May we mainly enjoyed walking and the beautiful views.

Refreshing air, beautiful surroundings. Peaceful with constantly changing scenery as the tide ebbs and flows. Don't miss out on this gem of a place to unwind, exercise and breath! Take some time out to relax and forget about everything but the wonder of nature around you! Enjoy! Please take any dog droppings or litter home with you or dispose of responsibly in one of the bins provided. Thank you in advance!

Great place to walk along for miles with sea on one side. Leave the car at the start beside the Martello Tower and have a nice long refreshing walk.
Important to plan it properly especially in Winter as beach can become covered by the tide.
Possible to walk right to the end and keep walking and get back on the road before ending back where you started.
