Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a great beach! Lots of space with easy access and lovely sand for the kids to play in. We spent the whole day there and my two young kids had a great time playing on the dunes, digging holes, exploring rock pools and streams. The RNLI were also on duty and very proactive as there are some strong currents. There was also easy parking on the street.

Perfect beach, great qulaity sand and sand dunes. free to park on road, can walk down to good cafes and toilets. Lifeguards on duty. Ideal for surfing and families. Perfect if sunny, recommend windbreakers if picnicing. Great scenery and cloud formations. Would definately recommend - our favouite beach of the week's holiday along that coast.
Next door Downhill Strand is also great and had the added bonus of being able to park on the beach next to the ice cream van!

This beach is awesome! Very fine sand, very clean and very close to the railway station, supermarket, local bars, coffee shop and Golf course. On the fairly new boardwalk, a farm shop trailer sells to-die-for home made ice cream during the summer months. Since the beach is very wide, even in summer with lots of local and international tourists coming to sunbathe, the beach never feels overcrowded. When the waves are high enough, the surfers go out and make for incredible pictures during sunset (this happens all year round!) I also love it during the winter when local people enjoy the silence and also the occasional wild weather. It can get very windy and stormy, it is after all the North Atlantic Coast. Last not least, at the far end, the beach gets rocky and then leads on to meet the cliffs of Downhill Demesne. Simply stunning! Highly recommended for nature lovers looking for a place conveniently located but still quiet enough to allow you to really embrace and enjoy all the beauty and power of mother nature.

While this is a great beach I was here for a week I noticed part of the beach does not allow dogs which is fair enough, during the week I saw countless people ignoring this law. (is there no enforcement.) Also the part that does allow dogs has no bins on the beach. Maybe this would be an idea to encourage cleanliness

Hey guys!
How far is the walk from the street?
Looking at getting some food dropped off for a surprise birthday.
Any help will be greatly appreciated
Written 11 September 2018
The car parking on the street is right next to the beach. Down a few steps and your on the beach. Beach is long and wide so it depends where you intend to sit. If walking from the toilets end of the beach about 2 minutes onto the beach.

Can I use a disposable bbq on Castlerock beach?
Written 29 June 2018
I can’t see why not as long as you extinguish it and dispose of it responsibly. There might be rules for use of the beach on a sign. If you can’t use it then take it home.
