The Lady Lever is well worth a visit. It is set in the Historic Village of Port Sunlight. The gallery has some very interesting exhibits and a good mix of paintings and sculpture. It also caters for young children.

Free admission, though recommended donation is 4 GBP. Nice stroll of an hour or so. The oil paintings are enough but the display of Chinese artifacts was also quite good. A room is dedicated to Napoleon Bonaparte and the (tiny) replica bed is a revelation.

Well, this is my most favourite place in the world. Peerless gallery, pre-Raphs a-plenty, fabulous sculptures - of another time! Wedgwood, terrific exhibitions, 1950s fashion, Oriental art. Great cafe, in lovely Village. Just go!

Merseyrail, Lime Street, Central or James Street to Bebbington or Port Sunlight. It’s a 10 minute walk max from either.
