About
Hundertwasser Memorial Park in Kawakawa township is a park in development stages as of August 2016. It is planned to provide a peaceful green area as a tribute to the artist/architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser who designed and built the Hundertwasser Toilet Building in Kawakawa and lived in the area until his untimely passing. The trees are presently young, but the area is a pleasant area to walk or sit and have lunch away from the Main Street of Kawakawa. Access to the Park and it's carparking is via Mackereth Lane, Kawakawa.

Superb Building, Great Ethos

This place is an amazing structure following closely the philosophy of Hundertwasser. It is an oasis in the desert of Kawakawa and hopefully will promote more interest in the town and improve the area. Well worth a visit.

Take a peek behind the famous toilets to see where the future visitor centre will be...

Nice view and with some imagination can see where the new visitor centre will someday welcome visitors. The model for the new building can be seen in the museum across the street (see my review for a photo of the model).

Nice spot

This lovely tidy wee park is located behind the Hundertwasser toilets. Plenty of parking available by driving down Macareth Lane (next to the vets) There are cute little toilets with pukeko art work there as well. Park is still in its early stages with more planned eg visitors centre, cafe etc. The young plantings it will be absolutely gorgeous in years to come as they mature. A real credit to the volunteers as I understand council do not maintain it.

does this park exist?
Aug 2016 • Friends
heard the name but didnt see any obvious evidence of the park's existence other than the toilets. There is a website but even that doesnt say the park exists.
