Tunnel through time to the world of the Romans - with a visit to Welwyn Roman Baths. You can't take a hot bath any more - the boiler went out about 1,800 years ago when the Romans left! But you can see some fascinating remains which have survived...more

These historic Roman Baths are a little surprise, located right under the A1(M) road at the Welwyn junction, there's a car park, lots of information, it's worth a visit but may only take an hour or more of your time depending on how much of...More

Find out what a Roman bath was doing under the A1M. A good hours worth of time and great for the grand children with lots to keep them interested with several A4 sheets to test their inquisitiveness.

We've been meaning to visit for years, and so glad we finally did. This example of a Roman bath house is outstanding. Not only because of its archeological importance, but because the Welwyn Hatfield Museum staff have gone out of their way to make it...More

Great hidden gem and well worth a visit if in Hertfordshire. £3.50 entry worth it as the site is very informative and gives a good description of what you are looking at (less than a pint as well). A must.

We visited these baths with our 7 year son who had been here with his school. It was a really interesting visit - there are special 'games' for the children to do, plenty of wall charts to explain what is there and staff on hand...More

We had an excellent afternoon at the Roman Bath Museum. They had a fun craft activity of designing a pattern on a canvas bag (only £3.50, incl entry). The museum itself is fascinating with loads of information that is suitable for children and adults alike...More

This is a small Roman Bath House situated under the A1M which formed part of a villa which was destroyed when the motorway was built. There are good interpretive panels and a number of interesting roman finds from the vicinity. It doesn't take too long...More

The small bath (nothing in size compatible to 'Bath') is only one hall directly under the A1(M) and luckily preserved from demolition when they build the street. Informative texts and materials to involve children. Perhaps £3.50 entry fee seems a bit steep, but this place...More

Good little attraction. Great place to take the kids. Bit of a hidden treasure really. Seek it out during the next holiday.

We visited the Baths en-famille at a summer event, so there was plenty to involve the grandchildren outside the site itself. The baths are buried under the A1M in a large steel tunnel. You arrive down a smaller tunnel from the car park/picnic area above...More
