Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Fairbrother Loop Walk is the first portion of the Ohope Scenic Reserve.
It can be an exciting place to visit during the day or night.
The Whakatane Kiwi Trust run guided night walks during the months of May and June, but you can go on a self guided walk anytime.
This is a real "kiwi" walk lots of insect and bird life, we loved it.

NOT for someone with mobility difficulties, painful knees or problem ankles. It has many steps, muddy areas, narrow paths and some very steep steps too!
Saying that, it is an amazing walk! We were lucky to see 1 kiwi cross the walking path and hearing many others as well as Ruru.
Bummed we didn't see the glowworms... but hope to go back and explore some more.

A little more information ahead of the walk would be better. The conditions under foot and incline tricky at times for some of our mixed ability group.

this is a really good short walk in the bush if you are in the Whakatane/Ohope area. Not too strenuous. Plenty of birdlife
