Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Will never again attempt a swim at west wave! What an awful experience to have to queue for over 45mins with a 5 year old . On them saying that they’re at capacity and will only count everyone one every 15 mins. To then make the front of the queue and have this repeated twice well watching multiple people leave( to hard to count the people coming in and out the front door!!???) what a joke!

The site is closed as I write 14th April, with no explanation on the Web or at the entrance. Disappointing after planning a visit over the weekend.

Kids pools are never open when you go and there's no warning on the website. No one ever answers the phone so that you can call beforehand. I've complained to the staff and they just shrug. Just can't go here anymore as it's a pain with kids turning up to find the only pools open are the deep cold ones. The aquatic centre at Mount Albert Grammar is worth the drive.

A place where you can bring your family with kids who love to swim. Kids up to 16 years old have free entrance fee. It's a nice place to swim especially when you go early in the morning with fewer people.

STINK POOL!!! all pools were closed except for the 2 or 3 deep pools..STILL had to pay full entry price.
They had the blow up castle for kids, grandad went on with my kids and they wanted him to do a swim test even after telling them that he was a police officer, I understand there just following protocols but staff were just sooooo rude!!! Young and clueless!!! Immature people. Thought it was a nice pool but NEVER going back

We went to west wave swimming pools today. as soon as we entered pools area one the lifeguard noticed that one our friend who was visiting NZ pools for the first time was wearing a bit longer short, she approached him in a very impolite, angry and unprofessional way. the way she acted can be expected only from someone who should not be allowed to be working in public place.
this is management shortcoming who employ this sort of unfit people that absolutely lucks social skills to deal with customers and clients from different races.
we shared our experience with a couple of other staff members they were sorry to hear that.

While th he term 'wave' can be used a bit loosely the little water slide is great for the kids on a rainy day. Warm water runs through all the pools and there are a couple of spas for the patents.
Cheap and good to wear the kids out when it's wet.

I'm a regular but you never know what will be open or closed. The staff are under motivated and undertrained with huge turnover. The facilities are being allowed to become run down and its a real shame - this is the best thing available in the area but it is not treated like it is an asset for the community.

Several times over the last two years, I have gone to the pool only to find out after entering that the lane pool or other important features are closed. Sometimes there might be a very tiny notice somewhere ( about the size of an A5 piece of paper.) This is a corrupt practice whereby the pool gets lots of money for things that are unavailable. The pool needs to put Large signs outside the Front Doors, as well as just inside them, on sandwich board stands, so that people know what is open and what isn't.
Another annoying feature is that the Entry doors are on the right-hand side, whereas a more natural place would be to have them on the left side.
Thirdly, the 10 swim concession cards have to be used up within a year. This is also corrupt. The cards have ten swims available; and the pool loses nothing by letting a person use the time they need to take those ten swims. Under the current policy, if a person doesn't manage to use up all the ten swims in the time period, the pool administration simply pockets a large amount of money for a small number of swims. The concession price is only slightly reduced anyway. So a person could easily end up paying more than they would have done with no concession. What is wrong with being able to use them when you want to? If a person falls ill, for example, they may end up simply having paid a lot of money for swims that they were never able to have. The Mt Albert pool does not have a time limit on how long you can use your concession card. The supposedly Council owned pool should start putting its social responsibility before making profits. This is a far cry from the promise we were given by the previous mayor that all Council owned swimming pools would be free.
Lastly, unfortunately, the pools and changing areas are often dirty.
