wow factor tucked away in the hills of Ngatapa
May 2021
Although water was scarce, and rivers in the region are dry, the Rere falls did not disappoint. A perfect spot for a picnic alongside the calming waters.

Take a big body board to avoid hitting knees on rocks
Jan 2021 • Couples
This was heaps of fun. We bought the cheapest body boards which were a bit short and my lack of skill resulted in me bashing my knees on the rocks as I slid down, but the pain wasn’t enough to stop me from doing it. Just if I go back, I’d take a longer bodyboard. Awesome fun.

Fun had by all!
Jan 2021
This was quite the stop. On my husbands bucket list we set off. Parking our campervan wasn't a problem, there are two carparking areas....and some used the side of the road. Its a wee trek down, so if your usually someone who has trouble walking down and up a little steep driveway, drive down or get someone to help you. Once there what a lot of fun can be had...My husband went down the rockslide 5/6 time loving every minute of it....its steep and walking back can be challenging so be mindful of that...boogie board, lie lows, blow up mattress are all great ways(really your only options) to get down the rock slide, so bring them down.

Looks like fun

Not being a good swimmer and travelling alone I did not go down the slide, but it certainly looks good fun! The bottom pool is 4 metres deep. Being out in the hinterland made the visit nice without any crowds. Would be great for families and groups

We were there just after a rainy day ...Hence not a good idea to do this BUT on a nice sunny day would be fun ... Beware it is nit for the faint hearted and or no swimmers ..

A slippery rock water and a pool at the bottom.
There were no crowds which made it more pleasant. Lots of photos for proof and we left 🤣😂

A wee bit off the way . About 45mins from Gisborne but well worth the drive . Summer is the best time to visit . Bring swim gear , rubber tubings & sunblock for a slide down the rocks !!

Classic kiwi outdoor fun
Jan 2020
A must-stop activity if you have any sense of adventure, or even if you just want to watch others having fun on this unique slide. It's best to bring your own boogie-board or inflatable tube, but there are other options if you don't have one. You can scavenge in the dumpster for broken boogie-boards, or hope that someone else lends you one, or just go on your bum (risking minor injury). The water quality is poor so don't drink it, and be aware that the whole activity does carry some risk of getting hurt even if you have something to slide on.

Wow what a find
Jan 2020 • Family
My kids loved this place, aged 6 and 12. Make sure you take a boogie board to slide down on, you don’t want to go down without one. However make sure they try and keep their heads above the water and don’t take in any water as the water quality is not great. My kids had amazing rides and there’s a skip bin at the rockslide with broken up boogie boards and other spare foam pieces so if you’ve forgotten your board you’ll be able to grab something to slide down on. It’s lots of fun.
