Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The snowfields are located close to Ohau Lodge. The entrance is part way up the driveway to the lodge, keep an eye out for the signs. Due to its location, it is almost in the middle of nowhere, located between Tekapo and Wanaka.
The ticket area is close to the carpark and they do sell some gear. If you are staying at the lodge you are able to get discounted tickets for the fields. They also do gear hire if you didn't have your own.
The field is quite small with only a single chairlift servicing the fields. There are magic carpets and pommel lifts for the beginner's areas too. The snow was amazing and due to the lack of people around it lasted for a while. Due to the conditions, only on-piste riding was nice since it was really icy off-piste. They have a variety of levels for the on-piste trails. The black trails were hired out by ski slalom teams so they weren't accessible until almost the end of the day.
You are also able to walk up from the main lift to get an amazing view of the surrounding alps. There is also the Avalunch Cafe close to the carpark. Although it was a smaller field, they did have a range of different trails and due to the lack of people, it was in really nice conditions for most of the day. I can only imagine what it'll be like if the surrounding off-piste areas were in good condition as they did look fairly easy to access and fun.
The Ohau field is definitely worth doing with its great snow and decent trails. Although it is out of the way, I do think it is worth the effort.
