- mrscho7987 contributionsExcellent Service from Mr Wan at ConciergeWe would like to share our gratitude for Mr Wan from the concierge. He was very helpful in assisting us with our urgent rental car booking. Even though we did not book the car in the end, Mr Wan went all out to help us nonetheless. His service standard is excellent and he did his best in assisting the guests. Thank you very much to Mr Wan.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 8 March 2024

- Ivor_K_13Hurstpierpoint, United Kingdom148 contributionsSuperb hotel between the rainforest and the beachThis is a wonderful hotel, in a beautiful location. Excellent food and drink in several bars and restaurants. Lots to do. But most importantly, absolutely superb staff. Very helpful, kindly, sincere, well trained. We were lucky to meet FiFi (guest relations officer) early in out 10 day stay, and she guided us through getting the best from the hotel, including arrangements for my 60th birthday - which went off perfectly! Be sure to catch the cultural show: Wednesday and Sunday, 5.30pm Very highly recommended.Dear Ivor_K_13 Thank you for your heartfelt review. It’s wonderful to hear that your time with us was so enjoyable, from the rainforest and beach setting to the dining experiences across our bars and restaurants. We’re especially pleased that Fifi helped make your stay even more meaningful and that your 60th birthday celebration was perfect in every way – those moments of joy are what we aim to create. The cultural show is indeed a special experience, and we’re delighted you could enjoy it. We truly appreciate your kind words and recommendation, and we look forward to welcoming you back for another memorable stay! Staff are highly knowledgable and enthusiastic, speaking very good English as well as Malaysian languages. Unfortunately not able to go on the canopy as it is closed currently. Did birdwatching around the golf course, which was great at dawn with a huge variety of species.
Any activities in the reserve are charged extra, you cannot enter without booking and engaging in their organised activity times. You are unlikely to see any mammals as they are nocturnal, but you may see various insects and some reptiles and birds.
There is an information 'education'centre that you can visit (for free) - great if you have children and it's raining.

We were here for a family holiday and loved it! We stayed at the Ocean Wing in a family junior suite 1813. The room was pleasant and bathroom was nice. Had a huge 3-person bath tub on the patio which opened out to the larger shared pool.
The breakfast was at Oceano which was more peaceful and pleasant with small buffet and unlimited a la Carte meal. This is the place to get a good coffee. We did have a look at the buffet breakfast at the Garden Wing and although it had more variety, it was much busier and noisier. Although if you love a wider variety and don’t mind the crowd, then Garden Wing breakfast has a good spread including ice cream for kids with plenty of sprinkles.
We enjoyed the jet ski, hired a golf cart to look at the golf course, did the pool yoga and our younger one also enjoyed the kids club. The spa at the golf clubhouse was good with the most amazing massage therapist called Vaina who had magic hands! She was brilliant!
The kids loved the pool slide and it was handy having an ice cream shop next to it. The pool at Ocean Wing is quieter but the kids really preferred the slides at Garden Wing. The pool temperature is beautifully warm - perfect! We didn’t use the gym but checked it out and it look reasonably good.
The service at good throughout the resort. Although one of the evenings, we felt that the Sanpam bar was rather slow with service and our dinner didn’t come out until maybe 45min later. The wait staff was most apologetic and offered free drinks whilst waiting for the meal to come out. We appreciated their kind gestures and knew it wasn’t their fault.
In terms of food, we loved the beef burger (standard menu) and also rated the seafood platter at Oceano highly. There’s a kids menu there too which was super handy.
I think this is a great resort and would happily come again. The sunset was amazing. Although I’d strongly recommend insect repellent for mosquitoes and sandflies. In general, we felt the western food was surprisingly better than the local food. (The best Sambal chilli for Nasi Lemak tho).
This is indeed a great hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Tips: 45-60min between hotel and airport/shopping malls. Please avoid peak hour traffic if you can. It took us 1 hr 20min to get from mall to hotel because we were caught in peak hour.

Went there during CMCO, it’s quiet and have limited activities that’s probably because of the SOP/pandemic, understandable. Breakfast is average. I must say they have the finest staffs(ALL of ‘em even their security guards) appreciate their hard work! Overall it was a great stay.

We booked a Canopy Observation Platform tour to let our 2,5 year old son experience the rainforest. When we told the tourguide Andy that my wife was pregnant, he took a different route to make it as comfortable as possible for her. The original plan was to go with a group, but Andy brought the three of us for an adjusted tour. During the tour Andy shared alot of facts of the rainforest. The tour was really amazing. Andy, terima kash untuk tour yang istimewa. Sampai bertemu lagi kawan!

Mobile check-in did not work, and my bed preferences weren't followed despite email confirmation on that. Food was bland across all the restaurants, and one of the seafood meals wasn't even fresh. Room was mostly nice but dated. Massive beach but really a long way from the city and the airport

The scenery was beautiful, the place was far from the city and it was so quite and calm. Not so many people around.
Main activity more to sight seeing.
Try to avoid the use of swimming pool by booking the room with big bath tub at the balcony.
Food is average and pricey.

Celebrated me and my son's birthday here at Rasa Ria for a family stay cation. They made Minecraft and Unicorn decoration in the room and birthday cake for us! We had really fun horse riding and great family time in this paradise. Such a beautiful resort with so much activities. Their buffet dinner was EXCELLENT. The pannacotta and creme brulee are the best we ever had! Both me and my son had 3 each for the pannacotta! Thank you so much Rasa Ria for the wonderful holiday and the pastries are the best!!

Hello we are going for 2 weeks next year and keep reading how expensive it is to eat in the hotel, we have been to far east many times and are used to walking to nearest town and eating in small restaurants...what can you advise please on cost of eating in hotel and any other tipe...thank you
Written 12 October 2019
It is impossible to walk to the nearest town requires a taxi. All of the restaurants are good in the hotel grounds apparently the golf club is cheaper and they will take you there in a golf cart. It is what it is I am afraid. Not cheap but there are middle of the road dishes. Ice cream cabin a dream.

What are the recommended vaccinations ? I understand this is the coast line, but assume going around the reserve means more precautions ?
Written 8 June 2019
I recommend you follow Foreign & Commonwealth Office advice regarding travel to Malaysia (or any country) that includes health guidance.

I am in a wheelchair, am I able to get around the reserve. I realise some parts ie canopy are out of the question, but can I see the other wildlife?
Written 22 May 2019
hello, fully agree with PutneySW!
You will not see much wildlife there but the hotel his spacious an beautiful to walk around.
Just for your info the Borneo Rain Forest Lodge, far way and also much more expensive... have a part of canopy that can do in wheelchair! And it is a big, true and "scary" canopy (very high :-) ) Very nice!
Enjoy! You will love Borneo!

Is the night walk still available? What is they payment like for inhouse guest and is there anything in particular we should bring along?
Written 10 March 2019
The night walk is still there. You just need long trousers and hiking shoes. Dont know exact price but not very expensive
Written 10 March 2019
Hi..is it possible to walk around the nature reserve without the guides or is it closed to the public.
Written 14 January 2019
Hi Diane C, you will need a guide to trek inside the reserve for safety reasons. But for the garden area you can walk around without a guide.
Written 25 January 2019
Hi Jeanette,
When booking day trips through the hotel, how far in advance do these need to be booked? Is it worth trying to do this via email with the hotel before we arrive or is it easy enough to book when you get there?
Thanks,
Hayley
