Easy and very beautiful 50 minute walk from the trainstation to the gletcher. Nature and views are spectacular. But the retreating of the gletcher and the high temperature there on the 24th of August (25 degrees Celsius) puts the fast changing climate right in your...More

We last visited the Glacier back in 2005 with our two sons. Back then you could easily walk onto it. Now it has retreated back a considerable distance making it a rough scramble to get on it. The walk up from the train station is...More

Take the car to the car park and walk about 50 minutes to the glacier. It’s a beautiful landscape even though the glacier has retreated quite a bit since I saw it last 20 years ago. Always worth a trip

I forgot my gaiters but luckily my shoes could handle snow. There where snow everywhere. Bring your wind and rain breaker if you have one. Knee height for a tall German guy. For me, thigh height. Just go, before it disappears.

Originally, we wanted to go to Allalinhorn (4027m) with a guide from Saas Fee but unfortunately, the weather was too bad and the hikes were cancelled. So we moved to the sunny Engadin and booked a Diavolezza-Morteratsch Glacier hike with the Bergsteigerschule Pontresina. We took...More

This is a fantastic experience on the Morteratsch glacier from Diavolezza down to Morteratsch train station. 10 km slope over the glacier with very scenic views. It's not about skiing or snowboarding, it's about a very peaceful journey within nature. You can ski here only...More
