Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This lake was really near our hotel, so we spent some time sitting next to it, and walking on the trail along the shore.
The trail was mostly flat, easy, and peaceful It was nice to get away from the crowds. You get a view not only of the lake but of the mountains, too.
The lake is really clear. There were kids wading, and people in row boats. It looked like motorized boats, jet skis, etc. are not allowed.
The sunset view was spectacular.

Some really nice views and space on the far side of the lake... And really doesn't take long to wander around so might as well combine with its neighbour...

Although this is called Swan Lake, we only saw 2 swans, but our tour guide told us the resident swans will not let any other swans stick around. The lake is near the castle and is easily accessible via bike or on foot. We were fortunate the weather was great as it made for some amazing mirror image photo ops.

We were here for a hike around the Alpsee and did also walk around the Schwansee. It's so peaceful! I liked the amazing view to both castles.

Aside from this being a clear and clean alpine lake, it has a killer view of the Alps and Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau.
You can stop here if you choose to walk over to either castle from Fussen, or just wander up this way for a swim or a picnic. There are WCs, so you can change there, but no other services and no lifeguards.

We were lucky to have visited in a snowy period, it was truly wonderful! The surrounding mountains and the castle on the background give it such a magical feeling.

Fantastic swimming opportunities with great views. Very calm. Many hiking tourists - no groups. The kiosk in a little hut feels like back in the 1950s.... Would love to see the place in winter, when the locals skate on ice.... enjoy the atmosphere in this relaxing are on a fine winter day...

The lake is a quick walk from the ticket booth for the Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles. Schwansee is breathtaking with it's clear blue water and gorgeous view of the alps and both castles. On a nice day, the reflection off the water is awesome. Wonderful photo opportunities. The water is very cold, but swimming is allowed. The swans are nice to sit and watch as well. There is some grass to relax and enjoy the beauty or a path if you want to walk. Paddle boats are also available to rent. We thoroughly enjoyed all of the scenery after visiting the castle. Definitely worth the visit!

The view of the alps from the water is just breath taking. Bavaria is already such a beautiful please but you should not miss stopping by schwansee. Get in the ice cold water and face to apls while while swimming. I will definitely go back there.

Stumbled upon Schwansee as we were headed to the castles... Big tip: go early before the tourists buses arrive with loaves of white bread to attract the swans.
We spent some time walking around the lake before our tour of the castle and saw some incredible landscapes. The swans are very friendly, almost domesticated... Which I loved until I found out that it's because they are fed bread every day... I digress....
Go early! Breathe the fresh air and enjoy!
