Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful park and beach to visit. We went for a picnic and a walk and then carried on to the lighthouse at Managua Heads which is a short drive away.

What a great place to visit, there are walks, a beach, a great campsite a homestead and some fantastic looking trees. A short drive away is the Manukau Heads Lighthouse which is worth a visit. We camped over a weekend and enjoyed the park. The rangers were really friendly and helpful.

The Regional Park is such a beautiful place to visit and take photos. Its a great place to swim at and has BBQ facilities and running water. It also has a camping ground down further which has cold water showers. Its also a lovely setting to have a wedding at with the Golf Club just up the road for a Wedding Ven.ue. Its gots lots of native birds and plenty of photo settings. The toilets are clean and also has an outside shower to rince off

Lovely views across the Manukau towards the airport and city. A mixture of farmland and beach with a little bit of bush. Easy walking

One of the great regional park we have in Auckland area. The place is not so far from the city. This is a great place to enjoy a picnic and enjoy the beach with kids. I have to say this beach is very safe for the kids. There are bbq facilities as well. Don’t carry your own bbq please. Toilet facilities are great as well. We will go back to this place to enjoy the sun next summer as well.

We live in the surrounding, Franklin area. Awhitu is only a 45 minute drive for us. So we come here frequently. We just love it. The beaches are safe (it’s tidal, so shallow with no waves) for youngsters to splash, swim, play. The walks are easy and lovely. Even our 2 year old loves them.
There’s many great spots for picnics. The homestead is a really cool piece of history. And in the summer the Pohutukawa trees are in full bloom and stunning.
We come here year round, and it’s always an enjoyable day trip.

Went walking around this area with the church tramping group of all ages. Very scenic and not a long hard walk. Bit of a distance from our area but a trip to the lighthouse added to the day for more stunning scenery.

A family outing and picnic is really good. We found we can ride bike and play volley ball. Keep kids entertained and so will the adult. A good place for family outing but have to walk quiet a bit to the beach.

We visited Awhitu Regional Park after going to Manukau Heads lighthouse. It is approximately 30 minutes drive from there. The beach is beautiful and not crowded at all. The camping grounds nearby was full but has peaceful environment. We did the settlers walking trek and then had a picnic lunch. There is no drinking water at the grounds, so take water with you but good toilet facilities that is well maintained and clean. It is worth a visit if you like nature and beach.
