The entire campus is design nirvana - the least interesting thing was the exhibit in the Vitra museum itself; of course the actual museum is beautiful. I loved the slide and the Vitra Haus. The only thing I wanted was a much better gift shop...More

Took the tram over from Basel just as the place was opening it’s doors. I went for the night club exhibit. It didn’t disappoint. Had a lovely coffee and pretzel in the cafe and the gift shop was loaded with great items. I would return!

This museum was located within Vitra Campus, an architectural complex, some 15 min walk from Weil am Rhein Station (tram 8 from Basel).

It all started with the legendary share of Charles Eames. The house shows the different variations of furniture for office or home use, all with a special look and some price tags that leave you speechless. Restaurant offers a great selection of menues and desserts.

Vitra purchased the Eames workshop, lock, stock & barrel. The park on which much of Vitra's subsequent success is arrayed is a marvel. Take bus 55!

For anyone with more than a passing interest in furniture design or design in general, this is a worthy visit. There are a number of things to see, so allocate at least half a day. Each building or facility is designed by a famous architect...More
