Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited in the summer. Took the cable car the short distance up the mountain. (is easily walkable and not too steep if you prefer - around 2km I think).

We then walked uphill (again not too steep) to the viewing point and tower. Great view. It was a fairly clear day and we could see the Alps in the distance.

We continued on a loop trail behind the view point, which took us through a small portion of forest, up steps at the side of the cafe/hut, back up the the tower and onto the cable car. Made a nice scenic walk of around 4 miles.

Hiked to the lake, nice place, due to road closures the place had much fewer tourists than normal. The hike to the lake is nice and the lake is very picturesque.

Great place with so many adventure things to do for kids at the bottom of the ski area in the summer. Highly recommend for younger kids for sure!

We are a family of experienced skiers/snowboarders and brought another family of beginners with us to Feldberg Ski resort based on reviews of it being family friendly and beginner friendly. Family friendly; yes everyone on staff was nice but I disagree with it being considered beginner friendly. The two main slopes rated beginner (slopes 8 and 9) are primarily fed with an extremely long “T” bar rope lift and a smaller rope lift INSTEAD of a 2 or 3 person chairlift. Slopes 8 and 9 were too steep for beginners. The rope lifts were brutal for all and extremely tiring for skiers and not snowboard friendly. On the other side of the resort there is a wonderful 6 person lift and a fantastic beginner slope but the only way to get back across to the main part of the resort is a ridiculous bridge which is extremely narrow and steep…not good for beginners. There was always a traffic jam to get down from the bridge and complete havoc and accident friendly.

Needless to say; I enjoyed being on the slopes but was disappointed with the layout of the ski resort and lack of chairlift for the main beginner slopes. I am the skier in the family and wouldn’t mind returning to Feldberg, but the rest of my family are snowboarders and they don’t want to return.

We went here to enjoy a day out on the mountains.. Firstly on arrival we, like other motorists were directed to an ugly, massive parking complex.. This was an expensive parking - you don't need to pay to go walking but here they make you.. Top tip: Park lower down and take bus (usually free with a guest/tourist card..

Approaching the start you are faced with lots of tacky shops and ugly hotels.. Nature has been spoiled here.

The cable car is expensive and the distance it covers so short it is best avoided..

The mountain isn't very interesting and all in all it is best avoided as you be sharing the space and the path with thousands of others..

We got a hochschwarzwalder cart from our hotel and with this you can take the cable car for free to the top of the Feldberg. At the end of the cable car it is a 15 minute walk to the real top of the feldberg. Not far from the cable car is an viewing platform which is also free with this cart. From the top tou have a beautiful views on the surrounding if there are no clouds. You can also make different hikes on and from the top, same if you are with a mountainbike.

During summer season it’s nice to go up there and admire everything around from the top point of the Black forest.

Restaurants and even a ham museum in the top.

Perfect place for hiking with many options.

Just if you decide to go up and down with the cable car it’s expensive.. 12€ for a short distance.

This was the second successive year I skied at Feldberg having been for the first time in 2019. This time, the weather wasn’t good, raining hard the first day with poor visibility for much of the rest of our stay. As a result of this, wind and poor snow in the run-up, about half the slopes and lifts were closed. The lift queues for what was operating were really bad and they are not great at the best of times. So, we were limited as to where we could go and spent more time queueing than skiing. This was not as much of a problem last year when it was all open. Bear in mind much of the resort is served by T bar lifts which are slow and can be tricky to use. This was even worse while two of the three large chair lifts were out of use. When we were able to ski, it was good with fresh snow on top and there are plenty of wide, easy slopes for improving and beginner skiers to practise on. Sadly, many of the nicest runs were closed this year. Apart from that, it’s a friendly place and prices are reasonable. That said, compared to well known alpine resorts, it’s very small, the lifts are slow and as it isn’t very high, so if the snow hasn’t been great, you’ll be on a limited number of runs with artificial snow.

It was a clear day when we visited and we were fortunate enough to she the Swiss alps in the distance. The walk back down is lovely with a selection of cafes, restaurants and bars at the bottom
