This is not only one of the older parts of the whole Cathedral area but also houses a very interesting and substantial museum with many different areas that are all well worth exploring. The highlights for me where the first area of the relationship between...More

My tourbook describes this attraction as follows: Enter the Reiche Tor, a richly ornamented gate leading into the Alte Hofhaltung (Old Imperial Court), one of the most echanting sights in Bamberg. The grandiose quiet inner courtyard is surrounded by half timbered buildings and the remains...More

Building that was stone and half timber with balconies surrounding a good size cobblestone courtyard. The boxes of flowers on edge of the balconies were pretty, but otherwise this place was a bit plain.

The old courtyard at the old residence is nice enough but nothing special. I wouldn't make a special detour, but if you are seeing the Dom (good) or the Neue Residenz (don't bother!) you should poke your nose in.

The Old Court is a large cobbled courtyard right alongside the Cathedral and a former Fort. It’s origins are over 1000 years old, with many transformations since. It is nicely restored and part of it is dedicated to a City Museum. The WC here is...More

I was here in 2014 and it was under construction so to see it now in 2018 all finished was amazing to me! We strolled around for a while just taking in the historic feelings and smells. The workmanship of the renovation is impressive. Well...More

Very similar to what you find in the other old villages, but still nice to look at, if you are there.

A very attractive series of old buildings clustered around a large courtyard near the top of the old town. The timber-work and decoration is worth some study.

Well I'd like to advise you but sadly we arrived here a day before it was due to reopen. All I can say is it looks most interesting, it's close to the cathedral so maybe you will get luckier than us.
