- Seekers08QualityNorth Yorkshire, United Kingdom197 contributionsA great way to kick start our first skiing trip!Having done lessons in the UK at places such as Xscape we wanted to have a private lesson for our first family skiing holiday. I found the website quite hard to navigate and ended up emailing to book our lesson. The response wasn’t as prompt as I would’ve expected but then we arrived to resort I can understand why as they have hundreds of lessons on daily. Unfortunately due to a significant flight delay we had to move our lessons. Again I emailed and the response had gone to my junk but the next morning got a call to say they could move the lesson to the afternoon due to the circumstances. We got Thomas as our instructor and he was fabulous. Showing us how to successfully use the chair lifts and gondolas and taking us down the green runs and showing us new techniques in a short period of time (2hrs 30mins) . Was great value for money with a wealth of knowledge and would highly recommend to anyone coming to Alp Dhuez. Also witnessed great patience and lessons amongst the younger children and all instructors are extremely caring and nuturing .Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 4 January 2024
- Irene0710Mexico City, Mexico1 contributionSuper level of teaching, but lack of group levels and flexibility to have the right teacher and group to have fun !I had amazing ski teachers (5 in total in 2 weeks). The only very bad thing is that there is not enough levels : you can be in level 3 (confirmed skiers) and it goes too slow, or you can be in same level with expert skiers and it becomes too difficult to follow... I had the problem in various classes. It's also a pity you can not change group and teacher if it does not suit you (after all, you spend the whole vacations with the teacher and the group). During my second week, I did not even go to my morning lesson, because the group was not friendly. In the afternoons, I had to let it go because it was too difficult for me (but very friendly) : I changed to the only other group available, which was just above beginner level.... so did not use a lot a whole week of classes !Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 12 January 2024
- BIANCA N2 contributionshighly recommended.Excellent ski school. Rémy, my snowboarding instructor, is fantastic. Very patient and skillful. Really great experience there. He made the lesson fun and helped me develop my skills significantly. I’d highly recommend ESF Alpe D’Huez and Rémy T.Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 23 January 2024
- suresh06059 contributionsWonderful skiing experienceWe had 5 private lessons with Jean Pascalle and it was the best thing we could have done to improve our skiing. We started off as beginners and with Jean Pascalle's help we ended our holiday being able to parallel ski. He was very patient with us and very kind. Due to his teaching and the suitability of the resort for beginners, we're all ready planning our return trip. Hopefully Jean Pascalle will be able to help us continue to improve.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 March 2024
- Claudia Y1 contributionAmazing experienceI had an accident in the snow in 2023 that took me to hospital for a full week. This year I was determine to learn how to ski, however I didn't realize the big trauma my previous accident left me. I was very lucky to find Remy T, he is a great coach! very professional and fun but mostly very experienced in my opinion. I had my first lessons with him in January this year and it was so good that I looked back for him when I returned last March. From getting frozen in the first lesson and in panic from my previous accident, to not only learning how to ski but being able to do a Green with parts of Blue and absolutely loving it! He pushed me and challenged me but I also felt safe under his coaching. Absolutely amazing experience, highly recommended.Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 13 April 2024

Asked for an English speaking class and was the only English speaker in it; everyone just spoke in French. Since I was skiing Sunday to Sunday, my first day in class was on Monday. Clearly all the classes had been set up today before and several of the instructors did not want an additional student. Therefore, I was placed where it suited them, not me, which was in a lower class than my previous ESF instructor had advised I should take this time.On my last day, no one turned up to take the class. I am guessing this is because everyone else finished the day before. So, I paid for that day and despite waiting there for 20 minutes with no one arriving, finally gave up and went off to have my last day skiing Rather than hanging around any longer.

I am literally the worst skiier in the world and Liliane and Paul were fantastic tutors. I cant reccomend small group lessons enough. We had 1 on one tuition from our tutors and I was able to do Green runs with confidence by the end of two lessons

This is a large and well organised ski school. Posts indicate where each group should meet and if late for lessons the office is next to the meeting place so they will help you connect with your group.
In comparison to lessons we had in Italy there was less personalised advice and the instructor didn't spend a huge amount of time watching each skier individually....that said, I was happy overall with the instruction and wouldn't hesitate to use again.

No friendly reception staff, daughter (10 ) was immediate level and they put her in to the snowflake group - beginners 4 years old kids in the group and I requested after first day to move her to higher group as my daughter has not enjoyed she feel bored and the issue I been told was that they have not get English speaking instructors. Next day when was different receptioninst then they told me that the my daughter level is bad which I disagree as I have been with her in reds and blue piste and she was skiing well. I have paid them to improve my daughter technique, well wasted money!
If I do not forget, they even did not provide her with west to recognise her that she is in the skiing group. My worst experience with ESF

I had already taken classes with ESF in other locations in the French Alps to learn how to ski and everything always worked very well, this time it was no different.
We used their services through a partnership with Club Med Alpe d’Huez, they were very attentive and patient with our group, which had people of different levels and abilities even though they were all beginners.
Professor Mathieu B. was excellent, he had great teaching skills and knew how to communicate perfectly with each person in the group.
I recommend and would use their services again.

Having booked ESF ski school before, I was most disappointed. Booked 6 days but only received 5 day’s tuition. Only English speaker in group. Booked level 3 but as the group had already ski a day together didn’t want me. Was bounced further between two other groups. The last one, the instructor was friendly but didn’t give me much one to one ski advice so I didn’t progress technically. It was a level 2 group.

Hi, If it is your LO first time skiing then book chalet des enfants - they have ski instructors and assistants to help the little one familiarise with the snow and skis. It was my LO first time and all the children enjoyed it. Piou Piou is for older children or children that have previously been on skis. I hope this is helpful. Enjoy!
