Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Those of you who remember Calais beach as a quiet, somewhat old fashioned, resort are in for a surprise. The Town must have spent a fortune on a very high quality revamp. The whole front is immaculate with pristine verges- planted up as sand dunes. The facilities are excellent whether you want to use the free fitness points complete with exercise bikes or simply have a relaxing lunch. The car parks are well spaced and when we visited, July 23, free. The children’s areas were well designed and there were basketball courts for a recreational game. The town was playing host to a smoke breathing 5m? High dragon loaded with children. It moved slowly along the front. Certainly the most impressive piece of animatronics I have ever seen. All in all I can wholeheartedly recommend a visit.

It’s a dull rainy December day but we did manage a brief walk along the beach. The seafront is very smart and tidy with lots of beautiful sand. We were day trippers on booze run and found plenty to see and do. I would recommend !!

The Beach itself is wonderful, perfectly clean, with ample food and entertainment options. But the only drawback is that the water itself is frigid cold, due to the latitude. So, not a great place for getting into the water. The beach is full of sand and many game options there. A lot of large ships can be spotted, as this beach is next to the English Channel, which is one of the busiest shipping lanes.

Spent most of the day at the beach, the area has recently been refurbished ,a couple of large family play areas as well as a skate park. There is quite a lot of free parking, we arrived at 10.30 and it was fairly empty by 12;00 it was full. The beach is clean and sandy the waves were less powerfull than further along the coast (Wimereux). When we were there the Calais dragon was out on display the kids really liked this especially when it was breathing fire and smoke (steam),they liked getting wet in the vapour. All in all a very nice area to spend the day.You can watch the car ferries come and go

Vast stretch of sand, very clean white soft sand a pleasure to walk bare foot. The guards keep announcing on the rules like food and dogs not allowed, otherwise unlike most of the beaches it will be filled with dog sh*t and other wastes. The water level keeps rising and many of the tourists lost their things as they were not aware of it, and they left to swim keeping their stuffs on the shore.

Recently reconstructed, it proposes a lot of activities. Huge attraction park for the youngest just nearby. Access might be tricky sometimes because of ship traffic, inducing car jams up to the city center. Parking just nearby.

We visited on a glorious summers day and spent the whole day on the beach.
They have done a brilliant job in renovating the area. The beach is clean with very attentive life guards.
The facilities are clean and tidy and plenty of places to get snacks or something more formal, there are restaurants are close by.
First time swimming in the English Channel. Was fun watching all the ferries coming and going to and from Dover. The ferries don’t disrupt your visit to the beach.
Free all day parking. Something the UK seaside towns needs to do!
Can’t wait to go back.
