I had no idea about the history of Boulogne-sur-mer until walking around this delightful promenade. Great views, lovely trees to give shade (much needed in July 2018) and has a real sense of history. It is 1.8 kms, so not a difficult walk.

I can recommend this beautiful stroll on the historic battlements of Boulogne-sur-Mer. It is totally free and you'll enjoy some beautiful sights and views on the old city. Be warned though, they close the entrances in the evening, so make sure to check beforehand if...More

This promenade meanders around ramparts of the fortified town. You can enjoy a quiet walk or pause to read or have a picnic. You'll certainly love the view of the beautiful cathedral and of the rest of the city. The ramparts overlook the city centre...More

We enjoyed our stroll and thought it worthwhile. We have visited the town many times, but only on this occasion have we completed the walk. We both enjoyed this, and after a morning in the market it completed our morning.

Only a short walk this time, after a good lunch. The steps were slightly damp and a bit slippy in places but if you have an hour or so, it's a great place to see the old citadel and views of the cathedral.

We had a lovely walk round the old town, went to Notre dame and the crypt. The walk round the city wall was very enjoyable.

This may well be the most surprising thing in Boulogne-sur-Mer. There is not much to do in the modern city center, but if you walk a bit further you can climb the walls of the historic center and enjoy a quiet walk.
