This is the second time we have been on tour with Faye; the first time was in the Arras, France area touring Vimy Ridge, Beaumont-Hamel and Ulster Memorials among others known as the Somme Tour. This time, we travelled to Belgium visiting Menin Gate Ypres, Flanders Fields, Passchendaele and other locations.
Faye is very knowledgeable and takes her time explaining the details of various battles in the area.
We highly recommend Faye of Living Memory Tours of Arras, France.

We are super late in posting this - sorry, Faye! - but we cannot recommend Faye enough. Words cannot describe how knowledgeable Faye is about the Battlefields in Northern France. She knew numbers, dates, geography like no one's business. I've taught units on Vimy Ridge in Canada, and studied mainly World Wars in University, and I was blown away by her tour. It was really special for us because it was on our first year wedding anniversary that we had our tour with Faye, and we will remember it for the rest of our lives. We learned so much. Thank you, Faye, for our experience. We loved it, and had a super fun time with you. We are recommending you to everyone we can!

Our family had the most incredible day with Faye. After and easy train ride from Paris, she met us at the Arras train station where we began our journey through time. First stop was Beaumont-Hamel where we had the opportunity to learn about the trench systems and visit a commonwealth cemetery. On to Thiepval, an overwhelming monument to the British soldiers who lost their lives on the Somme. Faye knew a cute little cafe we could stop at for lunch before heading onwards to Vimy. Once at Vimy we had time to walk the trenches, visit the interpretation centre and finally spend as much time as we needed to take in the unforgettable Vimy Memorial. We were able to visit the Ring of Remembrance which was a highlight for the three of us and one final stop at a German cemetery before heading back to the train station. Faye was unbelievable at answering any questions we had and was so knowledgeable about WW1 and the region in general. It was a day we think was so important to experience and one we will not soon forget. Thank you Faye!

Faye made our day! This lady is very passionate about the subject matter and enhances the tour. My husband and I were very impressed with the way the tour was organized and included backward information and dates and times. We were given plenty of time at each memorial to pay our respects. If you are planning a tour of Beaumont Hamel and Vimy this is the tour for you! Don't hesitate...book early to make sure you get a spot! Thanks Faye for sharing your passion with two fellow Canadians! Henri & Joan St Louis

This full-day tour was incredible. Faye was extremely knowledgeable and went above and beyond to make this tour as exciting and educational as possible. We visited many amazing sites (when my original plan had been simply to see the Vimy memorial) including military cemeteries, battle sites and the now-rebuilt towns that had been destroyed by war. Faye had tidbits of information about every town we passed through, and answered every single one of my questions. Near the end of the tour, I realized that I hadn’t thought to look for the name of a distant relative engraved on the Vimy Memorial. Faye took it upon herself to drive me all the way back (I was lucky enough to be the only tour participant on this day) so that we could find the name. She is very friendly, knows many of the locals, and is also a captivating storyteller. Her tour made this the best day (so far!) of my trip to France. Thanks Faye!

I spent an amazing day on the Vimy Ridge and The Somme tour with Living Memory Tours. Faye is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about WW1 history. I gained a much better understanding of what happened on those battlefields all those years ago, and appreciate all the more the immense human sacrifice made by our brave heroes. It was an incredible day, a very moving experience which I will never forget. Thank you Faye!

What can I say but if you are interested in a tour of the World War 1 sites, you MUST use Faye and Living Memory Tours. Our summer trip this year was as a result of the passion my 12 year old son has of World War 1 and World War 2. I am so happy I found Faye! The 3 days we spent with her touring the Canadian sites on her Canadian 3-Day Tour were incredible. She had every detail thought out and enough time to really absorb everywhere we went! I have to admit I was rusty on my World War 1 history, and what a way to learn through the passion of Faye and this amazing three day tour! She was able to keep both myself and my son thoroughly engaged the entire time and of all the guides we've had over the years she's the best! Warm, engaging, committed.. what more can I say but THANK YOU!

Overall Excellent - would easily book again with Faye, our guide, is extremely knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Early morning from Paris, Faye picks you up at the Arras train station at 9 am and you are in her capable hands until 6:30 pm. Broad perspective of the battles, the chronology, strategy and tactics. The Vimy Memorial is very moving and well worth the time. This is a FULL day tour. (We booked a later return train to Paris from Arras - and Faye, not only introduced us to her favourite wine bar (with chacuterie), but joined us later and walked us to the train station. Above and beyond - thank you.

We spent an amazing day on May 23 with Faye travelling through The Somme, visiting Vimy Ridge and the many, many other WW1 sites on a one day tour. Vimy Ridge is a special place and a must visit for all Canadians. Faye has amazing knowledge and vivid details of all the battlefields and cemeteries we visited. We booked with Faye when we saw she was Canadian and she was just great! She had even investigated and prepared information on family members who served so we could visit them. The day was perfect including the great lunch included in Arras. Do not hesitate if you are looking for a tour. I would highly recommend Faye and Living Memory Tours to everyone!

We are three adults planning to stay in Amiens for two nights. On our arrival of day one we thought we would take ourselves to Villers-Bretonneux & spend the afternoon exploring the town & the Sir John Monash museum.
On day two we would like to tour other Australian battlefield sites. Can you arrange an itinerary/suggestions for us for a guided toured & quote on how much this would cost? We would be happy to have either a private tour or a shared small group tour?
Thank you for any help with our planning Jenny

Hi Jenny,
Thanks for your message. Generally my day tours start at 155€ per person when departing from Arras. There would be a surcharge for a pick up and drop off in Amiens. If you can email me at the address on my tripadvisor page with the dates you are looking to tour I can confirm my availability and offer you some suggestions on what is reasonably possible from Amiens with exact pricing. Thank you for your interest in Living Memory Tours.
Best,
Faye
Hi, Unfortunately I have only one day, June 23, 2017, with my partner, to visit two sites: the Vimy Memorial (my father fought there) and the Dury Crucifix Cemetery (my namesake is buried there). My intention is to arrive at 9:00 a.m. in Arras from Paris by TGV and to depart Arras by 5:00 p.m. to return to Paris. We leave Charles De Gaulle at 10:40 the following morning to return to Canada. My thought is a car and driver for the day. What would that cost? What are the alternatives?

Hi Bob,
Thanks for your message. I am available for a private custom tour on June 23. Shared tours start at 150€ per person, there is an additional charge for private custom tours. I would recommend you take the 7h52 train from Paris Gare du Nord to arrive in Arras at 8h41 and the 17h17 or 18h17 train from Arras back to Paris.
If you simply want transportation to these sites, you can also hire a taxi from the Arras train station, however ensure you have the coordinates for the cemetery for the driver as this would not be a common stop and most likely not listed in their GPS.
If you would like to book a private custom tour with me you will find my email address and website links on my TripAdvisor page.
Best regards,
Faye
