Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Worth spending a few minutes walking amongst the many 18th C buildings or simply walking in the woods which surround the Citadel. No longer used by the military it is being transformed into houses and flats and will in time become an interesting community. Take time to visit the Le Mur des Fusillés in the outer defences - a sobering and though provoking experience.

The Citadelle is an interesting historic site although it's use now appears primarily to be for civic purposes. It isn't primarily orientated towards tourism and visits, but you can walk around during the day and bathrooms are accessible.

Hard to find any signage in either language. Suspect there were some activities going on somewhere, as evidenced by parked vehicles, but couldn't find. If signs on sight are considered to detract from the ambience, perhaps small brochures could be left at the various hotels in the area.
On the positive side, had the whole place to myself as I wandered around this large area, and enjoyed the architecture.

We eventually found the place but most of it was closed, but we were able to find the Firing Squad Wall, in memory of 218 patriots who were shot in the ditches of the Citadel of Arras between 1941 and 1944.

The address is wrong in Tripadvisor 🙄. We were finally too tired to continue there after wondering the correct location.

This is worth a visit. We couldn't visit the execution area at the back of the Citadel as it's only open after 2pm but we could still see the area which is quite humbling. The nearby war memorial is also extremely interesting and also worth a visit. These soldiers were all heroes.

This is worth a short visit, especially for the fans of Vauban. The small museum in the gatyeholuse, easily missed, is an interesting history of the site. The church was under rennovation but is meant to be very beautiful inside. The wall of the dead should be seen and is found throgh a gateway at the far end of the site.

The citadel itself is a substantial 18th Century fortification. It is in great condition and you get a good scale of the structure by walking the ground. Make sure you visit the memorial to the Resistance which occupies one area between the imposing walls. Plaques for those murdered adorn the walls overlooking the stark and harrowing post used for executions. Pause a moment and remember those brave soles who did not leave the citadel alive.

Built by Vauban during the reign of Louis XIV, the buildings are well preserved and site is peaceful. At the back is a memorial to more than 200 members of the French Resistance during WWII. The alcove marks the place where each were executed. The wooded area at the back is beautiful and peaceful.

5 minutes walk away there is an impressive cemetery Fauborg d"Amiens which is principally for the Commonwealth dead. My partner's great uncle has his name on the wall. We had a car which we parked in the large public car park opposite and walked to the Citadel , 5 minutes , so that made a nice total excursion. Sorry to be so late in responding - only just got the TA note! So probably too late for you.
