Well presented and very historic. I did not realize that there was still so much to see here. We had to rush through the 2nd Empire on the 2nd floor in 15Min, as it closed at 11:30AM and did not seem to reopen in the...More

Took a train from Gare du Nord to Compiègne station taking about 50 minutes. The palace is a ten minute walk through the very pleasant small town. It costs 7,50 Euro to visit the royal apartments. The audio guide is extra and worthwhile. It takes...More

The palace has a large number of furnished rooms from the First and Second Empire. There is also a good audioguide available. Apart from the Royal Apartments, there is a museum dedicated to the Second Empire, with a large number of portraits & busts. The...More

We’ve been to Versailles, Fontainebleau, Rambouillet, the chateaux of the Loire Valley, but in twenty some odd years of visiting France we had not been to Compiegne. As a history enthusiast I was looking forward to seeing the palace of Louis XV, Louis XVI, Napoleon...More

Toured the rooms of the Palais by ourselves. Disappointed in quality of audio guide but managed to still enjoy the visit. Not very crowded but really should have more attention.

The palace was amazing, suitably over the top and very interesting and overwhelmingly vast. The gardens were grand and gorgeous, with lovely walkways. The Car and Carriage museum, however, was awful. It was not open to the public on the morning we went so we...More

The Palace was built for Louis XV, damaged during the French Revolution and restored by Napoleon. I enjoyed very much the visit of the apartments because they are fully furnished reflecting the splendor of the Napoleonic era. The Musee de la Voiture is interesting.

The pleasures of Versailles, as in the TV Series, are hinted at as you go round this lovely palace. The rooms are from Louis XV to Napoleon III and Louis Philippe. Well worth the stop. Didnit over do it so left the gardens and the...More
