Vieste private guide: beautiful town with small street and lovely scenary

Vieste is a village in the Gargano promontory which counts more tourist presences in Puglia. This is because it is a beautiful place set in a breathtaking natural scenery that connects it from the mountains to its incredible sandy beaches and sea caves. The guided tour will start from the historic center, very nice, the guide will take you in the typical alleys with the classic white houses overlooking the sea with breathtaking views. You will visit the cathedral built in the eleventh century in one of the highest areas of the town and dedicated to St. Maria Assunta. The tour continues with the external visit of the Swabian castle with a triangular plan overlooking the sea, currently used by the Italian Navy.

Not far from the castle you can admire the sandy beach and the Pizzomunno rock, 25 meters high and symbol of the town and closely linked to a legend of love.

The beach is so beautiful and we had a wonderful day so nature would get 5 stars. You can take a sea kayak out to the caves or a pedalo and the water is clear. Overall though you must AVOID this beach. 1. There was clearly a man-made rip off going on in the car parks. We read it would cost €5 on trip advisor but they had cheekily pasted that over with a cheap piece of paper saying €10. I wouldn’t have minded paying that if they had spent some of the money upgrading the beach facilities. However, in my opinion they are just fleecing tourists who had no choice pay through the nose and very little, if any of the money appears to be being spent on proper humane facilities for the people using the beach. 2. The second reason I would say AVOID this beach is that the most disgusting thing was that we could only find one workimb portaloo toilet open to the public on the beach. There were 4 loos but 2 were out of action and in the third the flush didn’t work so human excrement was visible. The one loo that flushed had no loo seat so wouldn’t pass any hygiene standards. There was no loo paper. People were having to resort to providing their own tissues! 3. We thought that this was utterly sad given it is known as such an area of beauty as to us it meant that people would be forced to go in the sea. When swimming we couldn’t get it out of our heads that we could be swimming in litres of urine rather than seawater. It somewhat spoilt the experience. Such a shame for one of the most beautiful Beaches on the Gargano Peninsula. 4. We really hope that someone intervenes urgently and sorts this problem out to stop overcharging of tourists and the nearly zero hygienic public toilet services available on this still sensationally beautiful beach.

beautiful beach but get there early as it can get crowded the beach chairs next to the public area allows dogs, which is hard to find in this area. the staff is super nice and the cost is quite low compared to nearby spots (25 € for one umbrella and two chairs, no towel). bring cash! there are two options for parking: (1) park further away and take a free shuttle to the beach for 5€ (2) park more closely and walk down a long flight of stairs for 10€ we opted for 2 but only do that if you don't have a lot of stuff to carry and everyone in your group is fit enough to go down the stairs and climb back up. the shuttle/navette looked quite full towards the end of the day so there was a line to get back to the other parking lot. parking lots were cash only. this is a pebble beach as are most of the beaches in the area so may be worth investing in water shoes there are fish and we saw someone come back to shore with 3 sea urchins after having gone out with flippers and a snorkel!

A very clean pebble beach. We came here twice eventhough it was an hour drive from where we were staying. This beach is in Vieste. Once you turn off the main road and head down towards the beach. The road is quite narrow. You will arrive at a parking lot, it costs 10 euros. Park your car and then take the minibus down to the beach for free. It's a 3 mins ride. On site there are sunbeds and 2 snack bars, toilet facilities (no paper) and a paid shower (.50cents) The free area extends to the right of the snack bar. However, if you go further towards the end you will not have sun by 2pm. It's better to stay beside the sunbeds because you'll get sun till 6pm or later. You can rent kayaks and even jump on the taxi boat. A really great beach to go to. Mostly Italian locals and Italian tourist. The atmosphere is quite relaxed the snack bar and ground staff are very friendly and helpful. Really recommend.

The beach is wonderful with a very clean water but the part with umbrellas is very small so you feel like sardines in the box there. The service of two little restaurants is ok unless you get there at the same time as the boat arrives with lots of tourists.
