My husband and I stayed at Grand Hotel Dino in Baveno and used the Lake Maggiore Express several times during our stay to get to Stresa to shop and have lunch or to go visit the Borremeo Islands which were close by. It was so...More

Fabulous 3 in 1 day out! Express train, scenic train and boat ride! Well worth the €34 a head. The scenery is awesome. If I return to Lake Maggiore, I would do the same trip all over again!!!

My guide book had this experience as a top 10 for the Italian Lakes and I wholeheartedly agree as it was the best day we spent whilst touring 3 of the Lakes in September. We pre-booked lunch on board and were glad we had as...More

We took the express from Stresa and went on a boat to Locarno, scenic railway to Desmosummat and regional train back to Stresa. The trip was supposed to be all about the scenic railway but we found that it was a local train that stopped...More

Such a boring trip. 3,5 hours on a ferry with plastic seats. Then 2 trains back, again 3,5 hours, to where we started. Scenery is ok but not worth your whole freaking day. Sitting, waiting, looking around... instead of the expected; hop on hop off,...More

This is a wonderful day out with some lovely views. The weather was awful with plenty of clag but it was still a great experience, although I'd like to do it again on a sunny day. Please be aware that the service only operates on...More

We started in Stresa, took the boat (with nice lunch) to Locarno (they take Euro but your change will be in Swiss Francs). Narrow gauge train through mountains was ok, the views are better in the advertising leaflet, you almost get too close to the...More

You can buy a day ticket. We bought a ticket at the harbor in Baveno. You can travel the whole day with the tickets. It's 1 ticket each person for the train and boat.
