Scanno has a reputation that failed to live up to expectation, perhaps on the day and time we visited most of the church's were closed. Yep it is an old town with many many church's, so we were told. Parking in town is not easy,...More

Scanno is a shepperd small city. Here you can visit a little museum and a lot of traditional little shops. I liked it very much. Also near is the Scanno lake witch you should also visit and take a hike through the woods

One of several beautiful villages we visited on our recent trip to Italy. Extremely photogenic. Others villages recommended: Arpino, Montalcino, Pienza, Castrovalva, Villetta Barrea, Opi. All gorgeous, a must for photo buffs.

We visited the town after going to the lake. A beautiful town listed as one of Italy's 19 most beautiful villages. We meandered up windy cobbled streets looking at the old architecture and catching glimpses of the beautiful views - breathraking. Would recommend for a...More

Scanno has seen a lot time within its walls. There are structures dating back to 500. It seems that Italy has many of these types of ancient towns that seem to survive despite modernity. One can feel the history in these living museums.

As a tourist the worst thing you can do is arrive in a town between lunch time and 4pm. The towns are ghost towns. You are lucky to find a bar open for a coffee. Scanno comes alive during July and August when the townspeople...More

If you are in the Abruzzo area, this town is beautiful to see. I was there on an August Sunday and the streets were full of tourists, which makes the shops and attractions much better because of the excitement. (It also makes the vendors happy)....More

As others have indicated on Tripadvisor this hilltop village is well worth a visit. The higher you go (near the chairlifts) you can see the architecture change and appear more Swiss like. We enjoyed our visit.

Scanno is an ancient village at 1050 meters on sea level, characterized by stone houses, steps and arches. It is really beautiful, it's streets have inspired famous painters and photographers. Old ladies are still dressed in their traditional costumes. Just below the village there is...More

Trying to get to Scanno in the middle of winter can be a bit taxing but certainly worth it. A beautiful town with plenty of old architecture to keep your cameras busy.
