Wonderful place to spend the afternoon and explore
Jun 2019 • Solo
Very interesting, gem of a spot, run by a couple committed to restoring the lagoon and rescuing turtles, as well as educating about marine life. Well worth the visit - didn't have time to snorkel or canoe, but it looked so inviting. Great for kids. Two turtles in rehabilitation too... worth the visit... also to understand the historical importance of the area. Great sustainable restaurant too - open for lunch and dinner.

Laguna appears very peaceful and beautiful quite waters, purely for raising fry fishes to grow.
Jul 2018
My friend and I believed that it would be an ideal place to snorkel. We were not told that in fact the netted Laguna was a fish nursery and one could not swim there at all. We were taken into the sea that was very murky for over an an hour and found rocks, long weed and found hardly any fish at all. The weather had been hot but wind and a storm had apparently churned up the very unclear waters. Definitely not worth contemplating snorkelling there. Cost was 25 Euros and a 15 mins cab journey to the center costed us 40 euros . The centre advertised Roman sunken ruins to see when we asked the snorkelling guide we were informed that there are not any and it is fake information. It was very disappointing. The walk to get into the water is not very safe as sharp rocks with wet long weed very slippery and one needs to wear sea shoes to protect one's feet.

Small aquarium attached to the turtle rescue centre, that also runs canoeing and snorkelling trips
Aug 2018
This is a nice, friendly little aquarium, but it's really here to help fund the turtle rescue centre. Relatively few exhibits in the aquarium, plus an exhibit about the natural history of cetaceans (dophins and whales). The main attraction is the turtle rescue centre, which when we were there held two leatherback turtles. If you want to do the canoeing or snorkelling trips, they only run at limited times and you need to pre-book, so plan ahead! The cafe was closed when we visited late afternoon.

Tucked away hidden gem
Jun 2018 • Couples
This is a fabulous little aquarium with lots of information about the marine life in the Med. we went snorkelling with the guide and then did the tour afterwards so it was really interesting to see the fish in the wild and then see them close up in the tanks. This is a charity that works to rescue and rehabilitate injured animals so we were able to see two sea turtles up close which was amazing.

Great place to spend an hour

We spent an hour or so looking at the marine life including the rescued turtles here. It was interesting and educational and our two year old enjoyed seeing the crabs, fish and turtles.

My family and I really enjoyed our trip to the aquarium. It set in a beautiful location but the highlight was seeing the sea turtles.

€8 to help out a great effort

We spent a hour or so looking at the aquarium(s), sea urchins, octopus etc, the very informative exhibit on whales and dolphins and admiring the sea turtles in for rehabilitation. It's not often you get that close to these remarkable creatures, so I have no problem with supporting the work they do just for that alone.

There is also a restaurant in the grounds

Snorkeling and a great visit for kids! Especially if you speak Italian:are italian
Jul 2017 • Couples
I would definitely advice the visit to the families with kids, especially who speak Italian.
Our guide, Alessandra, was amasing! She mesmerised all children with her stories, they litteraly had mounths open!!!
It is not a huge aquarium, but it is about fish and creatures that you can really find in the area!!!
There is also recuperation facility for injured animals, for instance, tortles.
You can either just visit or do snorkelling or kanoe (check timings)

Lovely views

We visited this place primarily to walk along the causeway to see the lagoon and its wildlife. Cost is 8 Euros each, well presented aquarium, though not a great deal to see, the cetacean information is interesting and there were 3 turtles awaiting release. Lovely restaurant.

Rescuing the Turtles
Jun 2017
Aquarium isn't the word I would use as it's quite small however it was amazing to see the different sea creatures and so nice to know they release them every 2 months back into the sea so they aren't stuck in tanks; enough time for the public to see them before letting them go. Andrea was our lovely tour guide throughout the whole experience, including canoeing & seeing the rescued turtles which was brilliant. Seeing the turtles they go out and rescue without any government funding was incredible & so thoughtful. What they do is off their own backs and I would highly recommend going to have a look. Worth the money and the knowledge.
