Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I've looked at ceramics all over Italy, and there is something really special about Anna's work. The pieces are complete originals; modern and classic at the same time. The painted decorations are both intricate and clean and simple. Her craftsmanship is superb and her pieces will bring joy in use for many decades. Visiting the shop is a joy! After my first visit I began bringing an empty suitcase packed full of bubblewrap so I had plenty of space for purchases and was ready to protect them from baggage handlers on the way home. The pieces I purchased for gifts are still treasured too. Orvieto is a delight and an easy day trip from Rome (by train or car). Don't miss the Duomo when the sun hits the facade in the afternoon light; that alone is worth the trip. And save a little time to visit Anna's shop too.

There are a good number of ceramic shops and studios in Orvieto to choose from. They range from larger shops selling anything from high end artworks down to something that is tourist kitsch. Many are found on the main thoroughfares such as Corso Cavour or Via del Duomo and others are tucked away and have to be sought out. Orviet'Anna is one of the places that needs to be and should be sought out.
Anna Spallaccia, known as Orviet'Anna, is definitely one of the artists those who are interested in ceramics should visit. She has been working with ceramics since 1964 and her artistry and workmanship are stunning. While the creations are of a traditional Umbrian process she brings modern designs into play, often inspired by traditional designs. The prices for her pieces are very reasonable especially when compared to the retail shops in the more traveled streets. Her shop is on Vicolo dei Dolci across from the Duomo. To get to the entrance of Vicolo dei Dolci go through an archway just to the right of the tourist information office. Her studio is a short distance ahead on the right.
If you want to read more about Anna do an internet search for Orviet'Anna and you will see more detailed descriptions about her and her work.

Love, love, love this one of a kind hand made pottery. This small unique studio is tucked away near the church in Orvieto - a must visit when you are in Orvieto!
