We travelled from Catania by train and cars, to find this castle closed. The website stated that they close only on Monday. We found a piece of paper on the entrance showing that they are closed, and the neighbours said they are opening only on...More

This castle amazes. It is larger than it appears and represents layers of civilizations. Views are stunning in all directions from a number of different locations throughout. Allow a couple of hours. Be prepared for an uphill walk and stairs! Well worthwhile.

Milazzo was the city we stayed in for 7 days during our visit in Sicily. One day we decided it was time to visit Milazzo too, although we first thought it's a small town without any important attractions. We found in our bookguide of Sicily...More

Talk a walk through the town and up to the castle. The castle has an interesting history and the facts are well organized for all to appreciate. The view from there is wonderful even if you do not go inside

We did not expect this place to be as interesting as it was. It is being renovated and reconstructed with support from EU and it is very very impressive. The view is just amazing! A must if you are in Milazzo!

Tremendous fortress and easy to get to from the port past fish stalls. The usual pile up of invaders have built here from Greeks to fascists. Now a bit crumbly and fragile. Loved it. Could maybe do with a wee café.
