Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Between the old clocktower and San Lorenzo cathedral is this lovely square. Not affected by mass tourism you get a good impression of ordinary Italian life. Early evening terraces fill up with people who socialize and have a drink. Later on they share a meal, listen to music or exchange ideas. Good atmosphere, the place feels safe. No hooligans or trouble seekers around. Usually there is a police car near the cathedral for surveillance.

The square is named after Erminio Ferretto, a courageous partisan who fought fascism and was killed by Nazi's just before the end of WOII. He was not even 30.

This is the place to be if you want to sit back and watch locals walk past. The piazza comes alive Friday and Saturday nights - at least it did when I was there.

Initially was a bit annoyed I had booked hotel in mestre not Venice ! This was short lived. Exploding mestre felt like we experienced real Italian life. Even caught a memorial parade ! Good combination of Italian life with the multicultural visitors in Venice would recommend Mestre to anyone visiting Venice! Very easy to hop on a bus to Venice !

Well I have to admit that venice is venice and therefore it is quite complicated to suggest anything else than that but....if you are travelling to Venice, consider the option of sleeping in mestre and visit this square. It's a nice pedestrian area, withn many pubs and restaurants, not crowded....it's a try worth

We had decided to stay in the Mestre district instead of frenetic Venice. What a great decision as Trip Advisor had recommended Piazza Ferretto. What a great decision to visit there. We spent the afternoon taking in the sights and views of the historical buildings and then stayed for supper - a traditional Italian dish of lasagne served in the Piazza with live music nearby.

In Mestre area it's a very Nice place and typical "Italian piazza" to visit, with coffee shops, fancy shops from some main brands and in the surroundings you will find nice restaurants, Church and Tower. It's used by locals for weekend activities, like the Harley Davidson bykes concentration last weekend.

A perfect place to watch the way of living of the residents. Free of cars and perfect for rummaging in special shops.

We visited in late June and I was surprised at how big this piazza is. There is shopping lots of restaurants and bars. Also, make sure to walk in the streets off of the piazza as there are more shops and restaurants in the surrounding streets. Make sure not to miss the area that has the covered roof. This whole area was so pretty. A nice place to spend an afternoon or to go for dinner and drinks and a little shopping.

When closed to traffic means closed to all forms of traffic, including bicycles; you have a pedestrian marvel. Add trendy bars and venues where you can enjoy a cake or two and you have a piazza made for a quite stroll.
