Although the place was closed, it was still worth walking around it. The city has a feel good factor in itself. Calm, quiet and tucked away. !!

This fort was damaged in the 2009 earth quake, and sadly still being restored. The fort is impressive up close and the views from the hill are breath taking. Its not worth a long stay but if you are driving close by i would suggest...More

At the top of the hill and surrounded by large trees it is hard to see this place from L'Aquila, however if you drive or walk up the road it stands quite strong (especially after all the earthquakes the region experienced).

Impressive castle but unfortunately under construction, like zo many other monuments since the 2009 earthquake. On Sunday evening it's the place to be for a real Italian evening stroll. You can have a drink on the terrace at the south-east corner of the fountain.

Please note that the fort and most other sites in L'aquila are closed due to earthquake repairs. Before going to any sights in this city check to see if it is open. Only be church in the old town is open. Lots of cranes and...More

After having a coffee or meal nearby, this is a great place to have a walk afterwards. I suggest going at sunset so that you can see the shadows and the different colorations of the stone structure - it is awe inspiring
