Its big, impressive and the ceiling has so much gold its amazing it is still up there! Seeing is believing and it is worth the entrance fee and real candles, not the electric ones make a difference.

The Cathedral is being renovated on the outside at present. The inside is very large and has some small chapels inside the Cathedral One of the chapels shows the Black Madonna. The good thing is it is free to enter inside. Very impressive inside and...More

We have been to several Duomos throughout Italy, but they can be vast and overwhelming in size. Although the outside is being cleaned at this time (after 350 years it's to be expected) the inside is gorgeous. Even if you aren't religious you have to...More

When we visited Ferrara, the front facade of the Basilica was undergoing maintenance, but what first struck as a particular feature of the church building was, that along the side is a gallery with a number of small shops. Inside the Basilica is impressive. This...More

Lots paintings and architecture to take time to see, but a little short on the lighting so viewing some parts was difficult.

This Basilica is quite lovely. It is quite ornate with stunning art adorning its walls and a great feeling a peace inside. The craftsmanship within this and in fact all of these old Italian churches is mind-blowing, so special.

This imposing cathedral is under wraps at the moment, although it is still possible to visit. The restoration is seriously needed - evidenced by the amount of netting inside the building to catch falling plasterwork. However, it was really interesting to be able to visit...More

The Cathedrale is quite large and has an imposing location next to the main square. Unfortunately, the Cathedrale was under construction - inside and out - during our visit. With the front completely wrapped - and the inside covered in netting - the Cathedrale was...More
