About
The MIC offers a complete vision of the ceramic cultures belonging to any age and place; pieces from the Far and Middle East, from South America and all Europe allow the visitors to have a unique experience. It was founded in 1908 and now it preserves more than 60.000 ceramics, from antiquity to nowadays, all housed in great and suggestive architectural spaces. Ceramic masterpieces from the Renaissance, works by Picasso, Matisse, Chagall, Leger, Burri, Fontana and other innumerable examples of excellence, make the MIC a unique museum in the world.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I'm from Russa and I'm studying ceramics. I asked access for a catalog of museum for a purpose of studying. I recieved gentle no. For me this means that director of museum doesn't want Italian culture to be known abroad. Who doesnt want to live is already dead.

The INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM OF CERAMICS (or, MIC) is a remarkable museum, not only on account of its extraordinary collection of ceramic objects, many of great beauty, but also on account of the excellent introductions, presentations and explanations. My wife and I recommend a visit to the MIC both to persons unfamiliar with ceramics and to persons who have admired ceramics in a great many museums and exhibitions.
Fortunately visiting the INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM OF CERAMICS is not only very rewarding -- it is also very easy to do. Virtually everything is presented in an attractive manner, and the rooms are bright and uncrowded. There is a convenient route to follow through the museum but there are also numerous signs and options. And although there is no café or restaurant, there is a very nice café across the the street. In addition Faenza offers a wide range of restaurants.
We were staying in Bologna and took the train to Faenza (inexpensive; about 35 minutes). The walk along the leafy Viale Alfredo Baccarini from the railway station to the museum took less than five minutes.

Amazing museum of great variety from Picasso originals to historical treasures.
It has a confusing layout over several floors; and what feels like several buildings. Two elevators makes it accessible.

Our guided tour through this museum started with the earliest pieces mostly with one color, then moved to ones with more colors and details. Our guide was excellent giving us the stories about how each era added new ways to create ceramic pieces all the way to modern times. This was worth the time to see.

As there were very few visitors we were able to stroll at our leisure and enjoy the wide variety of ceramics on display. The explanatory notes were very informative.

One of the best museums what we have seen worldwide. Besides the fact that you can learn a lot about porcelain, fajance, ceramics there are wonderful pieces from all over the world. Not only old ceramics but moder ones too - i.e. Picasso was producing some marvellous pieces for the museum. Very well organised and displayed.

We were recommended this museum by a friend who live locally. Now, we are heathens so some of it was a case of us standing there and saying 'Do you get it?" or 'I could do that". Overall though, it was a good experience as it exercised our minds.

This museum is by far the best of its kind that I have ever visited in my travels worldwide. It is huge and spread over several stories. It encompasses sections including many countries eg China, Japan, Mexico and more (loads of ancient tools, clothing, masks as well as clay artifacts) etc and then European ceramics and another section dedicated to only Italian ceramics - my absolute favourite. There is also a section on modern ceramics if that is your preference. The entire collection is breathtaking and suitable for all ages, in fact there were schoolchildren visiting that morning. If you are a ceramics enthusiast like I am do not despair if lunchtime is approaching, you can pop out to eat and return to continue browsing using the same entrance ticket. Genius! I took a train from Bologna to Faenza specifically to see this museum and would definitely recommend, in fact I would love to re-visit!

Yes. But I think it's better and less expensive to visit one of the many ceramic makers who run their own shops. I recommend the one opposite the Hotel Vittoria
