This tourist train runs only in the evenings when it is getting dark, or is dark. We took the one hour long circular tour starting and ending in Diano Marina. In Diano Marina (which we were familiar with) the train followed the beach and bustling promenade. Passing through San Bartolomeo Al Mare (which we were not familiar with) the train followed the central main road and some side roads. Unfortunately it seems there is not a through route adjacent to the promenade. For much of the journey, particularly on the return route, the train used side roads. In urban areas we passed between hotels and apartment blocks and in rural areas open spaces and closed camp sites. It was also very dark. Basically, there was little for us to see! This made the journey - for a tourist train, a bit disappointing. Road surfaces were often uneven and very bumpy. Where they were not, there were many speed bumps. This made the journey quite uncomfortable. There were two positives. The train completed a circular journey around the pretty hillside town of Cervo, much of which was floodlit. And the whole journey only cost 2 Euros for a adult fare so it was very reasonable. On balance though, the journey was disappointing and uncomfortable.
