Castles are always fun and I never tire of visiting them. Entry is part of the museum, and was a pleasant visit.

Castellina in chianti is well worth visiting
Mar 2018 • Couples
Castellina in Chianti is well worth visiting for the shops and restaurants as well as some beautifully restored ancient architectural gems including the castle in the centre of Castellina

Unique Architecture
Oct 2017 • Couples
Visited Christiana in Chianti in October. What a lovely little Tuscan town. In the centre of it all is this castle with very unique architecture. It makes for great pictures from the piazza in front and from the surrounding countryside. I didn’t realize you could go in and go to the top. From what other have written it sounds like a good thing to do. When I return I will try that out. For now I have some lovely pictures of this castle.

A nicely restored castle
Aug 2017 • Couples
It's a really nicely restored castle and affords some superb views across the town and surrounding countryside. There are some nicely arranged Etruscan exhibits, and the pleasant young lady curator offered us a small tablet computer with pictures and narration in English, but neither she nor we found it to be very practical! Not really sure how the exhibits on the way up to the tower were supposed to fit into the plot ( football trophies etc) but the black Chianti cockerel fitted in somewhere?

This castle certainly offers beautiful daytime views but the night time sky on a clear night is amazing!

Nice surprise
Aug 2017 • Family
Having not done a lot of research into Castellina in Chianti I didn't realise there was an actual castle in a square at the top of the hill. Accessed through a museum (not super exciting, few bits of broken pottery) the castle keep is very well restored presumably with EU money including glass screens on some of the stairs up to the top of the keep and a semi-sliding roof. By far the best thing about it is the view from the top as the rest of history seems lost somehow to the restoration. So, good for a spare 30 mins if you are already in the town but not worth a special trip unless you are a castle spotter and you need to tick it off your list.

Interesting Castle - but could offer so much more
Jul 2017 • Couples
Well renovated castle offering splendid views of the town and surrounding countryside. The castle includes a small exhibition focussed on Roman and Estruscan artifacts. Problem we found was that beyond the exhibition there was so little other history covered which was a shame given that Tuscany in general and the area around Castellina in particular was the centre of a lot of Italian events throughout the centuries including more recent times when this part of the country was the focus of many fierce battles during the last world war. (Castellia was virtually destroyed by the allies apparently) Also nothing on how ordinary Italians lived, worked and socialised. Still worth a visit however.

While walking around the town, we stumbled upon Rocca di Castellina and it was so incredible to see! This area is perfect for a day trip from Florence. So many amazing areas to take photos of -- especially the little church!

And old an imposing small castle una lovely Tuscan village
Sep 2016 • Friends
Castellina in Chianti is a great and picturesque small village in top of one of those great Tuscan hills and La Rocca is the highlight of the village. It has great historical significance as it is where the Chianti league was based as pace keepers of the Florence-Siena battles for the region. Great to
Visit either from Florence or Siena
