A great experience with fantastic views. Do explore when you get to the top, we had some lovely food when we gound a bar up there. If you explore around you get some fantastic views. If you are doing it from Sorrento leave a little more time than you would expect because we managed to use up almost the whole day just exploring and getting back to our hotel. We only knew about it because we saw it in the car from Naples to Sorrento and asked our driver what it was and how to get there.

Excellent hidden gem! There is a walk ta a cafe once up there with terrific views which everyone goes to, but there is also a lovely walk to a church in the opposite direction which is amazing, allow at least 90 minutes for this woodland walk with awesome views at the end. return is via the same path. I am a bit late writing this review but no one has mentioned this lovely walk that we did when we visited.

What a great way to escape it all and chill in the mountains in the sunshine. Get the train to DeStabia and once you arrive you go to the end of the platform to get the cable car to the top of the mountain. Don’t forget to get your ticket from the ticket office first. Hopefully the queues won’t be too long because there’s a bit of a wait as there’s only two cars running and each journey takes 8 minutes. Unfortunately for us there were a couple of guys got on with bikes so the blocked anyone getting by the windows to see the views. The scenery is spectacular and well worth the few euro price. Once you come out at the top there’s a Mexican restaurant but if you turn right and walk down the craggy footpath you’ll come to two cafe bars and an outcrop of crags which they call a viewing platform. The food and drink in the cafes are very reasonably priced and they don’t scrimp on quantity. From here you can see for miles in both directions Naples and Capri. The warm fresh air is certainly refreshing. As are the beers food and salads. Make note of the cable times as you don’t want to miss the last ones down and it’s quite an ascent when you are travelling back up. We didn’t go to the picnic area because of previous reviews but we will probably go through it next time to get to the church that’s supposed to be up there. Well worth taking the time out to get away from the commercial Italy and see it’s natural beauty with little cost.

My husband noticed this cable car going up a mountain while we were on the train going to Pompeii. It wasn't in any of the travel guides in our Sorrento hotel, and none of the tour reps mentioned it either, so we got the into from the internet. What luck, because it was the best tour we did, and by far the cheapest! We took the train from Sorrento to Castellammare Di Stabia station (I can't remember how much the return tickets cost but public transport is very cheap, although it's a bit confusing and the trains are not clearly labelled, it's best to ask!). The cable car station is right behind the train station, and cost only 8€ return. At the top the views were stupendous, far better than from Vesuvius, and much less crowded - well, there was hardly anyone there at all! There's a rather random Mexican restaurant at the top, but we turned right out of the stop and followed a partly paved and very uneven pathway which ended at another restaurant and a lovely cafe where you can enjoy a beer or coffee and panini while enjoying the spectacular scenery. Make sure you go on a clear day though! If you don't fancy the rocky pathway, there is proper road to the left but this is a longer winding route. No queues, no hastle, no big expense, just a beautiful day out :-)

A great cable car ride with an astounding view of the whole of the Bay of Naples. There is very good bar at the top of the mountain where you can get a bit to eat, coffee or beers to drink. A pleasant area to wander around up top but it is really just the trip up and down that are what you should go for. Not expensive .
