Very interesting history lesson ... Remember that apart from the cemetery there are many trails around the area where the battle took place.

We visited this cemetery based on a recommendation of a fellow American traveler we encountered along our way. I have Polish ancestors, so it took on a special meaning for me. Lots of history here.

A truly heart warming tribute to the Polish sacrifice in the battle for Montecassino. The March up the Italian peninsula would not have been possible without their tremendous loss of life.

The Polish Military Cemetery sits near Monte Cassino on the mountainous approach the soldiers took during the final bloody assault. It is a moving sight, dignified and very peaceful. There is a small, modern visitors centre with helpful staff. It provides the context of the...More

This cemetery is a fitting tribute to the young Polish lads that gave their lives so valiantly for their country. It is heart breaking to think of the Mountain they had to climb before engaging in battle. The cemetery captures their bravery and how they...More

I visited this cemetery as part of a multi-day tour of the Cassino battlefields with Mr. Frank de Planta of CassinoBattlefields.com, a former British military officer who is exceptionally well read on the Italian campaign in general and the battle for Cassino in particular. The...More

Hi I'm sorry I don't know. The cemetery itself is pretty much always open and accessible but I think that like most places the actual museum is unlikely to be open between 13.00 and 15.00. If you avoid those times it should... More
