Such a beautiful cathedral in the heart of Ascoli Piceno. Visited with my husband and was so engrossed with seeing all of the different parts to the Cathedral I actually managed to lose him!

This historical church in the heart of downtown Ascoli, is dedicated to St. Emidio, the protector of Ascoli Piceno. It houses many beautiful antique artifacts including the crypts in the basement. Not to be missed!

The cathedral is historic and beautiful, but the real stunner is the crypt of St Emidio downstairs. The modern mosaics are marvelous, and the story of St Emidio (the protector against earthquakes) is well portrayed.

Beautiful cathedral located in Piazza Aringo. Legend has it that Ascoli is protected from earthquakes because of this saint. The Earthquakes in Italy a few years back did very little damage to this city, however surrounding towns were not spared. Well worth visiting this cathedral.

We were very fortunate to join a guided tour of this wonderful cathedral, built over three centuries in the medieval era.

A beautiful and well kept church worth a visit. They are renovating the roof and its covered with a cloth. Don't miss the crypt and the amazing mosaics.

The cathedral is undergoing some restoration and they have cloth draped over the ceiling. It's a nice peaceful place not overrun by tourists despite its central location.

For me, it was a pilgrimage to my grandparent's church before leaving Italy, but it was as magnificent a church as I'd seen in the country.

If your in the area stop in and take a look. Still looks amazing considering how old it is. Also a down stairs area that you should go down and see.
