Quite a great vibe even in the dead of winter. We enjoyed the different style of town this was to so so many others we have visited in Italy. The little laneways are best described as a bit of a maze but fun to weave...More
We rented a room here and strolled through the streets here for two days. This town is like a maze with small bakeries, bars and restaurants. Best thing is that it's a short walk away from the sea. I really loved this place!
Unluckily I didn't have much time to enjoy it, but the place is really beautiful, with a wonderful Cathedral, medieval palaces and lovely narrow lanes. It would deserve at least half a day. Unluckily the maintenance is suboptimal, with a little more care (and probably...More
For many years, we have enjoyed wandering the old walled city of Albenga. Its history goes back to the Romans. It is moving in both the right and wrong direction. On the positive side, there are many interesting shops and good restaurants. It is kept...More

Hi my mate, I´ve found your question right now...terribly after mid october :/ we travelled by italian trains last year and there wasn´t any problem, the connection is dense and the quality of travelling is OK. I am not sure about the buses, but railway is something I could recommend.
You can spend one week in Albenga, I think, that this town is a good base for exploring this part of Liguria :)
And the last question. I see no difference between Albenga and comparable towns in Italy...I´ve spent plenty of time outside in the night and underwent any safety issue :)))
with excuses for such late response I hope you will enjoy your time in Albenga, Kryštof
