My partner and I had the fortune to share a truly genuine and informative day out in one of the best (and still relatively unknown) wine regions in Italy in the Langhe valley. Marco as our tour guide was a fantastic host - knowledgeable, thoughtful, friendly and probably most importantly, deeply caring about the region he and his ancestors have cultivated for generations. His skills as a winemaker are formidable (do go see his winery if you get the chance) and you see that reflected in the way he operates his tour. His attention to details, like picking out the different shades of vine leaves that represent different soil types, are the measures that really give you a deeper sense of the place and character of the wines.

Whether you have a small curiosity to learn more about Italian wines from this renowned region, or a wine connoisseur keen to try wines from the source, Marco will be well placed to assist and ensure you get the most out of your trip, while also having a lot of fun on the way! He also has a well established network with other vineyards in the region and will utilise these to promote the best qualities and diversity present, for your benefit. We did both the Barolo and Barbaresco regions and were mightily impressed with the quality of the wines, particularly if you love Italian reds.

This one day trip was one of the highlights of our month in Italy and we'd highly recommend experiencing it in the very capable hands of Marco.

We've done many wine tours and this was our favourite! There are a lot of tour guides out there who speak perfect English and like wine, some more knowledgeable than others, but there are very few actual winemakers who will share their passion, expertise, wine and insider's perspective with you. Marco is a farmer first, a winemaker second, a Langhe expert third and a tour guide last, which suited us perfectly. We learned a lot, not only about some incredible wines and how they're still being made with great care by real multi-generational families, but also about how these families are adapting to environmental changes, market pressures and other factors you'd never think of if you weren't standing in a vineyard or a cellar with a real professional.

Marco has gone above and beyond to organize two great experiences for us (a truffle hunt and a winery tour day) and has continued his excellent and personal service even after our trip, offering to send our purchases to us and source some other varietals and vintages we weren't able to sample during our time together.

If you want the usual 'bus driver' service with a professional tour guide where you are driven around to a few well-known brand wineries where you get the slick 3-5 wine flight for tourists, do not book with Marco. If you want a truly authentic day hosted by a real expert, sampling the wines the locals drink, Marco's your guy.

My wife and I visited the wine region in Piedmont for the first time and wanted to learn about the area and taste the wines, I found Lange wine tours on Instagram and all the reviews there and on trip advisor were positive. So I contacted Marco and organized a tour. He was very professional from that point and the correspondence was excellent. Marco is not only a tour guide but also a resident and 7th generation wine grower who is passionate about the area. His knowledge of The Langhe and the wine industry and the contacts he has, made for an extremely interesting day. Marco speaks English very well and has a great sense of humor, very entertaining and a pleasure to be with. He explained the terroir and the various grape varieties and how the grapes grow in different areas, took us to his vineyards for an excellent tour and tasting. I wanted to experience the area as a local would so Marco took us to a restaurant he visits with his family and had a wonderful meal of local fare. We wanted to taste both new and old wines and that was organized for us. We’ve done many wine tours around the world and had some informative guides that know about wine but I’ve never had a tour guide like Marco who owns a vineyard picks the grapes and makes the wine, loves what he does and is passionate about the wine industry and the area he and his family have grown up in. I can’t rate this tour guide highly enough and would recommend him if you want to learn about the area and the wine from a different perspective and a resident.

If you want to go on a wine tour in the Piedmont region, I highly recommend going with Marco.

We were able to book a tour on very short notice. Marco does not limit his tour to the agricultural side of wine-making (which is of course still very prominent), but also expands into the economics and relations with other wine regions and wine makers. He will give you an honest assessment of the impact of global warming, expectations for the future,... and backs up his story with visual proof during the tour. And as a bonus, he is a good driver which is definitely a plus when you travel from winery to winery over the beatutiful hils of Piedmont after a few glasses of wine. He is also open to recommend you nice gelateria's or restaurants in the neighbourhood for after the tour.

Overall, it was definitely a 5-star experience.

We contacted Langa Wine Tour to arrange a wine tour. Marco Carosso replied within a few hours via email and WhatsApp, and offered us two options: 'a day with a local winemaker', where he would show us around personally, and 'an independent wine tour', where we would get an itinerary with 2 or 3 visits to producers.

Both options would be tailored to our wishes (famous barolo houses, small local producers, or a mix) and with respect to your place of stay. They come with a lunch reservation (not included in the price), also tailored to our wishes ranging from simple to Michelin star.

Since the independent tour was easier on our wallet (50/75 euro pp for 2/3 visits with tastings) we chose that that one. Between 11:30 and 17:00 we visited 3 wineries, Marco's own in the middle. All of them were interesting, ranging from small, medium and large family business. In Fratelli Revello we tasted wine while practically sitting in the vineyard where it grew.

I have to admit that the visit to Marco and his small family winery Cascina Galarin was the best. His English is very good, and talked enthusiastically about the whole process from grapegrowing, to harvesting (which was in full progress at the time), to wine making, and drinking/aging. He also took us to his vineyards, which offered a spectacular view of the full surroundings of Langhe, Roero and Monferrato.

We kind of felt that we missed out on not having him with us all day, but this was a nice and modestly priced alternative.

Like everyone who has done this before us: Highly recommended!

Marco is a very enthousiast and passionated guide. The highlight of the day was the visit in the vineyard itself where we got some info about the cultivation of the vines. The different wineries and lunch spot were well chosen. We were not pushed to buy wines what made us feel also very comfortable. A very interesting day with a lot of fun facts!

The wine experience that we had hoped for!
My wife and I contacted Langa Wine Tours to arrange a wine tour in Piemonte. Marco was very helpful with the arrangement and with accommodation recommendations. We ended up staying at his winery, which is such a beautiful place overlooking the vines and hazelnut trees. For the wine tour we visited three wineries, including Marco’s, and had a great lunch in Barbaresco. All the wineries were well chosen and the quality was very high. Marco is very knowledgeable about wine from Piemonte and we learned so much about wines from the region, on top of that he's a fantastic host and an all around awesome person! We would highly recommend a tour with Marco to anyone visiting this beautiful area in Piemonte.

Both Marco and Giovanni were brilliant. We wanted a flexible tour to work around our tight timeframe and Marco was able to offer us lots of options that allowed us to visit multiple places. We learnt so much about the wines and region from Giovanni as well as the process and and how they look after the vines.

We would 100% recommend this, you will learn so much and get to taste some great wines along the way.

We signed up for this tour when visiting Alba, and we are so glad that we did!! Marco is extremely articulate, knowledgeable, and passionate about the wine in this region. We learned so much about wine making, and the specifics about the different grapes and appellations. He took us to 3 different wineries (including his family’s) and it was really such a wonderful experience. He even helped us with shipping all of our wine back home. Please book this tour if you are visiting this region, you will definitely not be disappointed!!!

My friends and I just did a full day wine tour with Angelina yesterday. We had an amazing time. Angelina graciously shared her passion and knowledge with us of the wines and the region. We visited 3 producers (including her family winery). Each wine maker spent quality time with us and answered all questions. These were small family producers who took pride in sharing their wines with us. It was a very enjoyable experience and a great way to start our holiday in the region. Highly recommended! Marco was very prompt in all communications as well. Thank you Angelina and Marco.
