Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Just driving around the area is a real treat.
From Alba we drove out to Barolo one day, then Barbaresco the next.
The countryside is of course covered in vines on rolling hills.
The backdrop of the Alps makes for spectacular scenery.

Almost like a land that time forgot. Vineyards, hazelnut trees, ancient villages and curvy roads. Take step back and enjoy.

Went ot Tuscany, it was great. Went to Piedmonte region - it's fantastic. Learned more about Nebbiolo grape than any course in the U.S. The scenery is beautiful the people are so friendly. If you think Barolo is better than Barbaresco and you think they are better than Nebbiolo... guess what - learned it's the same grape... visiting the region you'll learn the nuances. Went to Rome, Florence, Venice, Pompeii and have to tell you... this region is my favorite!!

Hills, landscape, good food, excellent wine! What else? A new way to have holidays! You can discover this area with a Tour (I know a little Tour operator called SlowDays that organizes a tailor-made tour for all budgets). You can go with a vespa, with e-bike, hiking or with a guided tour, but always remember this word: Slow! No hurry in Langhe. If you want to appreciate this area you have to discover also hidden pearls!

absolute delight to cross the Langhe vineyard hills and slopes, where tradition and wine are perfect cocktails and well kept family secrets.

We loved the Piedmonte region. It is less traveled than Tuscany, and more scenic in my opinion. Stay in Alba and drive out from there each day to the different mountainsides.

UNESCO made a brilliant choice adding this astounding wine region. The hills, fog and hilltop villages are stunning. Each village or winery is a treasure hunt and both eye candy and culinary treat. We came in fall. The weather was gentle and the fall colors of the vineyards were beautiful. We combined our trip with the Alba truffle season for a double treat.

Just rent a car and tour this wonderful region. Head for small country roads and stop often to take pictures.Langhe hills are UNESCO world heritage hills.Wine villages are lovely waiting for you to taste their wine.King of the reds Barolo is very rich. I prefered Barbera d'Alba which is smooth.
It was an unforgetable ride.

We biked from Charasco to Asti (over 2 days) using the back roads through the valleys with hilltop villages, grapevines spreading down the valleys with hazelnut groves & fruit orchards at the foot of the hills. It is an amazing way to embrace the scenery at your own pace and stop to take in views, refreshments and more.
This was part of an organised bike trip through Piedmont - we rented eBikes with luggage transferred to our hotels.
It really is a gorgeous and special part of the world. Highly recommended. Loved it.

We rented a car in Alba and I wondered if we could tour these beautiful Hills on our own without joining a tour?

You can, but unless you're experienced in driving in Italy you may miss quaint neighborhoods and wineries that GPS doesn't have. There are specific vantage points where you can see the whole valley including Barbaresco, Barolo, etc. We learned a tremendous amount form a small tour group (6 people). The guide was phenominal, personable and knew how to accentuate the allure of the region.

Buon divertimento! Ciao Giulia
