Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I promise myself after every trip to write reviews, but 90% of the time forget to do that. Some experiences compel you to give up on the procrastination and 'just do it.' Our recent experience with Marahau Water Taxis has compelled me to pen a few words of appreciation for their fabulous service (on time), their flexibility (prepared to accommodate pick up earlier if possible), ease of dealing (pay on the day). And then of course giving us a joyful ride everytime - all skippers had different stories to narrate, with their unique sense of humour. But a very very special thanks to the booking manager Jude who went out of her way to help us with suggesting an appropriate itinerary for our group, and being so patient with answering my list of 63 questions (some of them were repeats! :). I would recommend MWT to everyone visiting the area.

We booked our trip in October last year for the taxis to collect us from Totaranui Bay in March and take us back to Marahau after completing the Abel Tasman walk. We had to change our plans and wished to be collected from Awaroa instead. We rang the company and it was no trouble to change our booking. The taxis arrived on time and we were assisted when walking up the ramp into the boat. We knew we would have to wade through the waves to reach the boat so had taken our boots off and put on suitable beach shoes. Jason was our Skipper who was friendly and knowledgeable. After collecting some more people from Totaranui he took us to see the fur seals which were delightful and then all of a sudden we were in a pod of dolphins so Jason switched off the engine and we watched them frolicking for a while. This was a highlight of our trip. When we reached Marahau we were attached to a tractor and driven to the carpark. Luckily we had taken a jumper and a waterproof jacket otherwise the ride might have been cold and wet. I would definitely use this method of transport again.

We had spontaneously booked the boat ride from Marahau to Bark Bay leaving at 10.30 am and returning from Anchorage to Marahau at 4 pm. The drop-off at 11.30 am thus left us with 4.5 hours for the 13 km coastal track hike. The tour started on the parking lot near the "Hooked" restaurant where all passengers boarded the boat on a trailer which was then pulled to the sea by a tractor. Our captain was witty and the ride was occasionally interrupted for something to look at - like birds and seals. Disembarkation over the ramp at Bark Bay was easy and dry...
Getting to Anchorage was something in between a walk and a hike. It was a succession of uphill and downhill and although the major part of the track was not difficult there were also some rough sections. I would not call it an exhausting walk but some standard fitness is required. We were rewarded with nice views.
We arrived well ahead of departure time. In the meantime the weather had changed and the water had become choppy. As a consequence the boats arriving for the return ride had to anchor at some distance from the shore and we all had to wade through the water. For the trip back to Marahau we had a female captain who loved to hit the bow waves of the boat in front of us - fun for most people on board but definitely not for those in the back who got wet all over... For disembarkation no wading was required. The tractor brought us to their office, a 5 minute walk from the car park where we had left our car in the morning.
I admit that I was tired at the end of the day but for untrained hikers like me it sure was the best way to explore Abel Tasman.

We took the Marahau Water Taxi for the full day experience of Absolute Abel Tasman and it was Amazing! The trip we took is a boat ride all the way up the coast and then we got dropped off at Onetahuti and hiked through to Bark Bay. Our Boat Capt Vinny was super informative and kept us entertained and took us to some amazing zones along the coast. We got to see lots of Seals, the Split Apple Rock, and the entire Abel Tasman coastline. The timing was great with it being higher tide while we were on the boat and the tide going low when we arrived at Bark Bay. Everything was amazing and they were right on time to pick us up at Bark Bay at 3:45. I would recommend this trip to couples that want to explore Abel Tasman but don't have the time/days to do a few day trek.

We expected a plain taxi service, where they would take us from A to B, but it was so much better. We got a small tour of the coast, stopped at some of the sight, saw seals and got some information about the national park. Great service all around!

We had such a great day in Abel Tasman. We got dropped off at torrent bay. Originally planned to walk to onetahuti but was able to switch to bark bay on the day of when checking in to allow more time for enjoying the beaches. On the way back we stopped at a few different bays to pick people up which was nice getting to see bays we would not have. On the way out they stopped at Adele island to see seals and also split apple rock which was very nice of them. Very friendly and informative crew! Highly recommend! Was also a 5 minute walk from our Airbnb so very convenient.

Our trip was booked for us by Ocean View chalets so we were picked up at our accommodation in a minibus. We were dropped at the centre to check in and the organisation is fantastic. We arrived to see lots of other people waiting which was disconcerting but you are directed to a boat on a trailer and checked off on a clipboard (checking your drop off point and means of return). The boat on the trailer with you on board is then towed down the road and into the sea. Great trip and great staff. Very professional outfit and good value for money

Picked up on time (early) at Totaranui. Booking was easy. Good trip back to Marehau and it was evident that the skipper was very safety conscious and looking out very carefully for kayakers etc. tried hard to show us stuff in the Marine Reserve. Tractor approach to taking boat up when you arrive at Marehau is awesome,my husband loved it. Very well organised.

We used the water taxi to pick us up at Totaranui once we finished the Abel Tasman track and transport us back to Marahau. They providdd overnight parking for our vehicle and delivered us back to only a few moments walk to our car. Made things so much easier for us. They even stopped by the fur seal colony on the way back...bonus!! Excellent service, definitely recommend!
