About
We showcase contemporary sculpture featuring some of the most exciting artists working in New Zealand today. Discover a dynamic exhibition of over 60 large-scale sculptures set in a sublime landscape of towering native trees - majestic palms, a precious kauri forest and established native bush alive with birdsong. The 2 km sculpture trail meanders past lakes, vineyard, forest and open pasture, and offers unexpected intimate views alongside stunning panoramas. Be challenged and delighted by the carefully curated selection of sculpture. Discover works that float, move with the wind or sunlight, or produce an unexpected sound experience – the trail will certainly appeal to all ages. Explore the annual Brick Bay Folly project which is inspired by a quirky interpretation of an architectural ‘structure’ and challenges young architects to stretch wide their imagination. All sculpture is for sale and The Glass House also hosts an indoor gallery with small works from leading NZ sculptors.

    Plenty to enjoy!!
Some fascinating sculptures in enjoyable quiet, natural bush settings. I particularly enjoyed the few 'hands on' /interactive sculptures and also the 'music in the bush', while my wife really enjoyed the whole walk! We luckily learned about the attraction from a flyer in our accommodation... Unfortunately like most things in NZ, there seemed to be a fairly sizable price increase recently ( now $18pp for the walk) which was a surprise, but the Brick Bay walk was a welcome addition after enjoying the Sculpturiam previously in Matakana.
Thank you, Bruce, for your detailed 4-star review! We're glad you and your wife enjoyed the sculptures and the walk. We appreciate your feedback on the pricing. Just so you know, there’s a $3 discount on the walk when dining with us, bringing the price to $15pp. We’re happy Brick Bay was a nice addition to your visit. Best regards, Tom

A favourite for a day trip out of Auckland
This was one of our favourite things we did on our North Island travels. There are around 50 different sculptures - these are decent art pieces. The setting is lovely and varied - it was just a thoroughly pleasant stroll. It took us about 1.5 hours but we read everything and took our time. Note there are some steps and some sloped areas - nothing major but if you have mobility issues, you should be aware of this. There is a small children's play area as well. We then had a really wonderful lunch in the Brick Bay Glasshouse.
Hi kiwisam3, Thank you for your wonderful review! We’re thrilled to hear the Sculpture Trail was a highlight of your North Island travels. In fact, we now feature 80 large-scale sculptures, making it an even more dynamic and varied experience. It’s great to hear you took your time to enjoy the stroll and followed it up with a lovely lunch in the Glasshouse. We hope to welcome you back someday! Cheers, Tom

An interesting walk full of surprises
We enjoyed an hour and a half exploring the creative art on display in this beautiful country setting. The walk was cleverly laid by out providing an opportunity for the art to be viewed from multiple angles in unique settings, some including music. The kauri trees were special to see too. We completed our walk with a delicious lunch at the restaurant.
Hi Alipa50, Thank you for your lovely review! We’re so glad you enjoyed the Sculpture Trail and appreciated the creative art, unique settings, and even the music along the way. It’s wonderful to hear the kauri trees stood out for you too—and finishing with a delicious lunch sounds like the perfect way to complete the experience! We hope to see you again soon. Cheers, Tom

Visited for a lunch followed by walk on the sculpture trail today and can highly recommend both experiences. The lunch special menu included three 150ml tasting glasses and two courses. Very reasonably priced for delicious food and drink. The service - priceless. It was very very good. With one guest with dietary restrictions the kitchen were able to make the changes without compromising quality. After lunch and armed with a map we enjoyed a leisurely stroll through a beautiful maintained trail. Pricey and unusual sculptures galore.

Finally managed to visit here and it exceeded my expectations. We spent 2 hours viewing the 65 or so artworks dotted around a trail which itself was picturesque in its autumnal colours. There are some fantastic pieces on display and for a very reasonable entrance ticket price! We finished with a glass of Brick Bay wine in the glass house perfect ending!

This is the second time I have had the pleasure of visiting The Glass House at Brick Bay in the last month and again we were not disappointed. We were placed out on the deck area and we all chose to have the "Taste of Brick Bay" I can highly recommend this as a great way to have the opportunity to try a couple of different options on the menu. It was hard for me to not choose the Beef Cheeks which is truly a favourite of mine instead went for the Beetroot Cured New Zealand Salmon which did not disappoint then followed it with Crispy Sesame Squid all paired with the Classic Paddle Tray. A great two hours catching up with old friends over a delicious meal and of course great service

Purchased the summer special $45 entry, shared platter, desert and wine paddle and spent three hours viewing the sculptures and enjoying lunch. Best value ever! Food was delicious and the sculptures were amazing. Great service from our wait staff.

This is such a great sculpture trail! There are more than 60 sculptures to see in a trail that can be walked at one's own pace. Some of the sculptures are fabulous, some are whimsical, some are challenging and some are... different. Lots of benches for rest stops for those who want them. Our group ranged in age from 18 months to 65 years, and we all had fun. And such great value!! Even if you don't eat at Brick Bay, you can do the trail for $12.

It was a pleasant surprise to find such an inexpensive outing in the Matakana area. Chose this sculpture walk because it was far less than others we had seen. The helpers at the entrance were cheerful, helpful and pleasant. Very clear instructions given as to how to progress the walk and a map (with details of each sculpture) was handed over. The path was easy to follow and the walk through the forest was fantastic. The whole experience was educational and even thigh busied up at no time felt pressured to move onto the next item. The walk took us about an hour and a half, so very relaxed. Great time and fun. Would recommend this walk to all, even if not an art critic/enthusiast. Great restaurant on site and toilets cleans down tidy.

I love bushwalking and sculpture so this was the perfect afternoon outing for me and my family. We came here before Christmas with my elderly parents and children aged 10 and 8. Everybody had a most enjoyable time. The sculpture trail goes through paddocks, native forest and on boardwalks, it is nice to have that variation in terrain, and ample shade on a hot day. The sculptures were diverse, some I loved, some made us giggle, all were thought provoking and sparked a conversation. We particularly loved the works by Virginia King, Johnny Turner, Filippe Turner, Chris Booth, and the kinetic sculptures by Phil Price. We also loved hearing Alegri's Miserere in the forest (sound installation). Allow at least an hour for the trail. The staff here are also really wonderful, I left a hoodie here by accident and it was couriered back to me in Auckland. Thanks Brick Bay for a lovely afternoon and for supporting local artists. So great to see Art and Nature come together.

Take 1.5 to 2 hours walking around this train, and take your dog too (though they may be a bit upset at some of the sculptures...). On a hot day, there is lots of cool bush places where you can dit and view or listen to the sculptures. A beautiful experience.

After been told all about the art and how great the place is my partner and I decided to visit. The work is truly beautiful the down fall was the group of screaming uncontrolled kids that where running wild on the walk.

My partner and I both noticed the group in front of us also been disappointed by the lack of respect for the art.

We cut our visit short as we didn’t want to attempt to sit in a restaurant with the wild children carrying on.

We will try and visit again.
Hopefully the next lot of children let though won’t hang off the art we are try to look at.

Lunch at the restaurant was great for starters but then walk around the sculpture park and opportunity to “guff “ around with my family was priceless. Weather collaborated, there were not too many visitors and it was a perfect afternoon. Highly recommended!
Ps categories for type of visits are not right - mine was with family but with adult children !
