Easy and scenic hike
May 2021
A very scenic walk that takes you on top of the Dumyat hill, where you can admire beautiful views of the Forth Valley and the river Forth. Best enjoyed with good weather, it can get pretty windy and cold up there. It's a fairly easy walk but steep enough in some points to make you feel good about your hiking skills if you are a novice. Once you reach the Pendreich car park you'll find the start of the trail without problems as it is signposted.

beautiful views

Lovely walk to the summit, great views from Edinburgh in the east to Loch Lomond in the west and north into the wilds of Scotland. Not too taxing on the legs, although best wear sensible shoes

Stunning views over Stirling
Jul 2020 • Family
Walked up for the first time with my daughter, who loved the whole experience. Great views across Stirling and the forth valley, and a great way to get her excited about hill walking and doing more in the future.

A must if your visiting or looking for a few hours out.

Lovely hike

Really nice views from the top, and on the way up as well. It’s pretty tough in spots but the average person should be able to do it in 2 hours or so. Bring water :)

Dumyat walk

Great walk and not too hard (loads of reviews said it's an easy walk I must be unfit lol ) but well worth the effort as the views over Stirling and surrounding area are amazing. Loads of parking at the bottom and it's free.

A grand small hill
May 2019 • Friends
I had been wanting to climb Dumyat for ages, having lived at the other end of the Ochils and wandered the hills at the other end of this small range. We parked the car and went up from the small car park near the Witches caravan park. It was steep at first, but with that came great views almost immediately. It’s worth the effort to reach the cairn. We didn’t have as good visibility as there might have been, but it was still very enjoyable. The only downside is the number of paths to the summit and the width of many of them. This is a small hill accessible to the central belt so not surprising it’s so popular..

An absolute must do!
Apr 2019 • Friends
We parked halfway up on the sherrifmuir road car park. The route up dumyat is easy to follow with stunning views all the way up and down. Definitely a challenging walk with some quite steep sections but plenty to enjoy looking at when stopping to catch your breath.

A well marked scenic walk
Mar 2019 • Friends
Enjoyed this little gem from just above Stirling. Easy to find the car park, plenty of space and a well marked and built path to the top of the hill. Views down over Stirling the whole way and across to Edinburgh. Excellent 2-3 hours out.

Lovely walk with great views from the top. Interesting memorial to see at the top. Was busy with people of all ages. Very windy and bracing at the top.

A winter stroll out to Dumyat
Jan 2019 • Friends
On a gloriously sunny winter day, what better way to stretch the legs and grab some great views?

Well, okay, at the start, the further-away hills were wearing cloaks of mist but that gradually disappeared and we played spot-the-mountain from the summit as we munched our picnic lunch, with every mouthful tracked by my ever-hungry terrier.

Since my last visit (some years ago), the path out from the Sheriffmuir road (aka the "grannies' walk", though it was definitely the families' walk this time) has been significantly improved, with some excellent path-building and water management. The major muddy sections of old are no more :-)

It was a lovely way to start the new year.
