Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great experience. The staff were very friendly and helpful, I would fully recommend at least an hour out on the lake....

A great way to really appreciate the lakes. Appropriate commentary and friendly staff.
We took the red cruise, stopping off in Ambleside for lunch and a wander, about a half hour stroll from the pier.

Fab activity to do whilst in the lakes. Me and my boyfriend hire a boat for around 1 hour. That's all you need to be honest it gets abit boring after 30 minutes when the novelty/excitement wears off but was a good experience and time filler. Staff efficient and friendly. Water little choppy so imagine it be a better experience when weather abit nicer but I'd deffo recommend.

Bowness on Windermere is a lovely town with a wide choice of amenities. The people are friendly and helpful. We booked a cruise on the lake and whilst waiting to board we bought some snacks from the cafe on the quayside. The 45 minute trip was an absolute pleasure and the tour guide gave us interesting facts about the islands, lake and buildings. I recommend a visit

We hired a boat yesterday while visiting the Lake District for my husbands 50th birthday. We went as a family of 3 and had a great time sailing the boat from Waterhead. Thanks to Ahmad for the easy booking and organisation. We would highly recommend this fun activity.

We did the Red Cruise Ambleside trip. Views were excellent. Overall the staff were friendly with the odd grumpy one. It is not cheap and a warm welcome should not be too much of an effort ( Ambleside end ). The eight year old with us thought the trip was brilliant.

A really fantastic family outing. Despite terrible weather we loved it! The boats are great, the staff who give the briefing are lovely, and the kids really enjoyed the opportunity to drive a motor boat on this stunning stretch of water. A really unique experience, highly recommended.

We did this cruise as an optional extra during our Expat Explore tour.
It was freezing, but so beautiful.
The commentary was spot on and the views spectacular. There is a cafe on the top deck and a bar below deck too.

Hi Thinking of doing the islands cruise with 2 elderly people. Are there a lot of steps involved ? Is inside or outside easier to get to? Thanks x

Hi. Not sure if the size of the boat for the island cruise but the other boats didn’t have too many steps if you’re downstairs. If you use the chat function on their website they respond straightaway and are really helpful

Hi, I'm looking at booking the steam train and boat from Hatherwaite to Bowness. When you get to Bowness, is it walkable distance to the centre and the attractions such as Beatrix Potter? Thanks

Agree with the above. We enjoyed Keswick Centre better for shops and eateries as its pedestrianised and a bit quieter. Not been to Beatrix Potter for many years but have many find memories of it. Definitely book every attraction online and also restaurants. Tip - before you come into Dock on the ferry use the loos as there are not many public loos available in dry land!
Hi, why weren't we given a ticket or receipt when we paid to go on the exciting land train trip? While we were sat in the car park waiting for the roundtrip to resume my children noticed that people paying there were given tickets .
Hello - there was two days last week where the Road Train ticket machine was not working properly -this meant that no tickets were printed from the train and only from Braithwaite Fold carpark, Our IT dept did try to resolve the problems as quickly as possible and we're pleased to say everything is working properly again! However you should have received a handwritten receipt- we'll check with our Road Train staff to ensure they follow correct procedure
