Ancient History On Our Doorstep
Aug 2021 • Couples
A surprisingly nice educational visit to an old Hall steeped in local history and gentry dating back to William I. Still used as a residential home by the long time owners there is an unusual feel of history and homeliness. Surrounded by lovely gardens, estate land and Grade 1 protected stables Peover Hall is well worth a visit for a few hours. Do bear in mind that the guided tour is of the house so you should allow additional time to tour the gardens and stables. The church is only open at certain times.

Interesting House with a Strong American Connection
Jun 2019 • Couples
Lots to see here over three floors on guided tours with well informed and very knowledgeable guides. The gardens are delightful too and the cafe is excellent. The American connection is that Patton and his team were billeted here during WW2.

Lots of events ensure that most of the time the park and hall are busy. The grounds are majestic and practical. Hall is very interesting. Staff friendly and welcoming and knowledgeable. There's a cafe and toilets.

A guided tour of the house
Jul 2018
I visited Peover House with a local history group from Tarporley & District U3A. The tour was excellent, the guides were very knowledge and the history of the house is fascinating. The afternoon tea was superb and very reasonable priced. A great trip if you are interested in very ancient houses.

Just spent a lovely sunny afternoon at Peover Hall. Lovely and very interesting property shown to us by two very well informed ladies who obviously love their work , gardens very pretty. Sat in the shade enjoying our tea and scones watching the polo ponies. all the staff very friendly, Thanks to the family for allowing us to share their beautiful home for an afternoon. we will be back.

Disappointing
Sep 2017 • Couples
We went to visit as part of the Heritage free days. the staff were very pleasant and welcoming. The gardens are small and probably pretty mid summer, but nothing special. Most of the items inside the house have been bought from elsewhere and put in the house in recent years so little is authentic and therefore has no story to tell. The stables are the most interesting part of the house because they are so unusual, but they are poorly lit, have little information and are not staffed. The tea rooms were closed which was a pity because there were quite a few visitors. We would not go back.

Lovely House.
Jul 2017
With our HHA tickets we spent a lovely afternoon wandering the superb gardens , followed by an excellent tour of the house. Our guides , Ian and his lady partner gave us an insight of the history of the house but stressed that it was also a home to the present owners.
