Welcome to Banbury Museum! We are a family friendly museum located in Banbury’s town centre, next to the idyllic canal side. The Civil War, plush manufacturing, the Victorian market town, costume from the 17th century to the present day, Tooley’s Boatyard and the Oxford Canal, are just some of the stories illustrated in the museum. There are also regularly changing exhibitions and activities to ensure that there is always something new to see and do

I love to visit local museums, so to understand the history of the area. I was pleasantly surprised with is small but good museum. It explains the history of Banbury, and compliments this small but pleasant town.

For a small museum this has a lot to offer the children, especially in the holidays as there are always great exhibitions and activities for the children. Great location by the canal with the cafe over looking it. Our boys always enjoy time spent there

A small museum but with lots of history relating to Banbury, the weaving, nursery rhyme etc. Some lovely items on display especially the loom showing how the weaving was done.

Thankyou - we're so glad you enjoyed coming here. Would a workshop / demonstration of loom weaving be of interest to you? We're hoping to run one later this year.

I do apologise for the tardy response Emfy - life has been a little hectic... I am not certain to be honest with you & it would best to check directly with the museum itself....
