The North and South High Crosses of Ahenny are some of the earliest and finest High Crosses found in Ireland. Both crosses are skilfully carved with intricate geometric designs that have stood the test of time - carved over 1200 years ago. The crosses mimic...More

Lovely to find such a well intact historic attraction in such a picturesque location. Beautiful sight, beautiful surroundings. Nature uninterrupted. Perfect for pictures.

If any where near these Crosses are well worth a visit, you have to walk through a field but worth it. It's a lovely graveyard but some of the older gravestones have been taken away it does rather spoil the overall feel.

Hard enough to find, this is well worth the visit. Part of Ireland's hidden treasure trove lost out in the back of beyond.

The cross stand some 7 or 8eight feet tall. Both the North and South crosses are carved of sandstone.

Drove small road to find this. Was not impressed. Looks like every graveyard I saw already. The churches around here are filled with the same Celtic crosses. If you have a choice to see this or a Castle pick the Castle. To far off the...More

We stopped here today. It is a little hard to find but well worth the effort. The grave yard is small and there are only two large Celtic Cross gravestones tucked among other very old gravestones that seemed to go back to the late 1700's/early...More

The high crosses are amazing in many ways: their age, the workmanship and dedication to their formation, the symbolism decorating each one, and how they have stood the test of time and weathering.
