Located on the hill above the main esplanade the steps give a spectacular view west along the coast. Also a good spot for watching surfers if they are out. Probably nicer in summer when gardens more colourful and cafe open.
We love the Connaught Gardens, whatever time of year. We have not been down Jacob's ladder but do stand at the top taking the wind/sun/rain and look at the beautiful view and amazing beach below. The gardens are just wonderful and when full of flowers...More

Lovely location for the Sidmouth Folk Festival Service. A big grassy area was used so plenty of room for deckchairs & picnic rugs etc. A stage for the worship group, musicians etc. Lovely trees, shrubs & flowers.
