Lovely well-landscaped gardens surround the Colchester Castle, and include two very large playgrounds with lots to offer. There is also a cafe (which unfortunately closes at 5 p.m.) that offers drinks, snacks, etc. Our children loved this playground, which was a pleasant surprise.

Good displays, clearly sequenced and well labelled. Helpful staff. The castle itself is also worth studying, being composed in part of re-cycled Roman tiles and stonework. The only let-down was the lack of a manned tea-room (though there are coffee and snack machines).

Plenty to do and see. Great for children as there is boating lake and 2 excellent play areas, a castle to visit. Plenty of seats to sit and read or admire the colourful planting.

The Children love the new park with all it's fab stuff especially the Zip Wire and the swings. It is also nice just to sit on the grass and have a picnic and let the kids run about on the park after.

It's free to get in. Some events have paid entry but this is rare and never shut the whole park.
