Bronze statue of the Klipfish wife to commemorate the workers on the klippfish rocks, sculpted by Tore Bjorn Skjolsvik. It was a gift to the city on its 250 year anniversary, and was unveiled by HRH Queen Sonja in 1992 with three genuine klippfish workers present. The statue has become one of the town's best-known symbols and photo motifs. The statue is situated on the Pier, close to Fisketrappa/Radhusplassen.

The local stopping place for the inter-island local ferry boat. Of parti ular interest is the bronze statue of a fisher-woman with her herring catch. Its full of nice photo opportunities.

Statue of a fisherwoman on the waterfront reflects the role of women and hard work they did in drying and preparing the salt cod. It was the major industry that provided Kristiansund its prosperity and heritage.

We called at Kristiansund during a recent 21 day cruise. It's situated on four main islands surrounded by astonishing natural beauty. Our primary goal was to ride along the Atlantic Road to Kvernes (see review elsewhere) but we spent some time in the city on...More

If you like bronze statues there are 2. The location is by the water in downtown kristiansun. It's just so so, nothing as special as the nature beauty of Norway.

The statue located close to the sea that summarizes a major part of Krisiansund's history. Definitely going to try klippfisk at a restaurant.

Situated on the waterfront, which is a nice walk and seems to be a busy part of town. We were travelling on the Hutigruten and only had a short space of time for a quick walk

Kristiansunds culture and history is based on klippfisk. You need a picture here! It is the post card thing too. Also in town, so you cant miss it.

I had a fantastic local guide that told funny storys from the old days, he made the statue alive. It is in the city center though, you pass it when you catch the little harbour boat.

This is a statue, but also a symbol for the town. We love our klippfiskkjerringa here. It is a tribute to the clipfish women who did a lot of hard work. You find the statue in the town centrum by the harbour. Most tourists take...More
